The Marx Brothers' final feature together sees Harpo as the mascot of a group of aspiring actors, who indulges in a little light larceny to ensure they have enough food. He steals a tin of sardines that were the cover for a stash of stolen diamonds and has to evade the heavies who are after them. Groucho plays private eye Sam Grunton who's also on the case while Chico plays an itinerant travelling musician caught up in the plot. The film was intended as a solo effort for Harpo but the financiers insisted on all three, hence the somewhat disjointed roles, but the finale, with Harpo escaping over neon advertising signs, is one of the trio's best efforts. David Miller's film sees Marilyn Monroe in only her second credited appearance.
