Hi,
..........Been holding off buying 6900 till it became clear if the freeview tuner would be capable of handling HD, due to start transmission later this year..This is now looking increasingly doubtful.
It would seem a receiver using the later dvbT2 will be required,,as is being used in transmission tests in Guilford..
There are still people with 6900,s who dont think this is so..I hope they are right.
Are they?

regards,
..............bladesmantwo

Freeview are planning to use DVB-T2 MPEG-4 standards, and this is still nowhere near a final specification, and could be at least one year away.
Technomate will only cope with SD Freeview.

but surely any HD that appears on freeview will already be on Freesat - which is open to the TM6900 anyway

No problem using Freesat to view programmes in HD. DVB-T2 is a new standard that uses 256QAM transmission mode combined with a new error correction protocol which delivers 30Mb/s, or about 25% more than 64QAM mode used by freeview and not decodeable by the Technomate, that we know about.
