Hi

I am considering buying a GBOX V3000 V-Box 500 VBOX II DiSEqC 1.2 Positioner. I have a 1.2m dish driven by a 36v motor. Presently I use an old MSS 500 series Pace to drive my dish.

A couple of years ago the pace unit broke, I had a Humax 5400 and my local Sat shop sold me a vbox of some sort, can't remember what, But the vbox positioner continually over run the actual satellite positions and rarely landed anywhere near a satellite. After a couple of weeks of trying to get it to work properly and without any success I took it back and was given a refund. I got the Pace repaired and alls been well since.

I've now got a Technomate 6900 super combo with 1.2 Diseqc so my question is how accurate and reliable would a GBOX V3000 V-Box 500 VBOX II be? Does it hold positions well and if you lose power do you have to do a full setup again or will it hold (keep) previously set positions.

Can anyone confirm that the GBOX V3000 V-Box 500 VBOX II DiSEqC 1.2 Positioner will work with my Technomate 6900 super combo. Is this my best option or should I continue to manually move my dish using my old pace.

I appreciate any help and advice, though it would be nice to select a channel and not worry about moving my dish.

Cheers

Two v-boxes I use have worked perfectly for some time, you were unlucky with your first v-box. For convenience I would strongly recomend a v-box over your old Pace.

The GBOX will work ok, but I prefer the Moteck as the software is less fussy.

Once it is set up it will hold its settings if powered off.

Hi Burnham

Thanks for your help and advice, I've had a look around but can't find much info on the Moteck.

I've read that when using a v box you get some signal loss is that true?

Cheers again

I have 2 Superjack dp6600 running my 1.2 and 1.8 channel masters.
It was the best move I ever made, i can swap recievers and not have to set-up each time, the vbox's are in the loft so only run coax to the recievers.

And i did not get any signal loss when i switch from my echostar 3000 and 3600, but was changing the reciever, and the technomate tuners were much better, not so the dream7020.

I use the Gbox 3000 (green) and have no issue`s with it, it works great.

It does not lose positions if the power is cut.

Best of all is the price, very cheap.

hi again

Still thinking!

How consistent is the VBox 500 in exactly locating different satellite positions. i.e. how often (in general) do you have to re-adjust a set position. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Both Moteck and VBox 500 have never lost set positions.

I too used a pace MSS 500 as a posititioner, the vbox is far far better in fact I have used it for approx three years and it has never lost sat position once,
