You should be able to veiw using a scart cable i am able to view hd tv on my SD set upstairs with a digisender. in this day and age why would you want to watch HD channels in SD ?? Id Suggest upgrading TV m8 most of the tv channels that are HD are in SD anyways so dont see the point.

If you using Composit leads you probley find it will dipslay funny lines across the screen. my SD tv upstairs has HD component composit connection dont know what the point is the tv only does SD wont do 720

Yes, you can view HD channels with a normal SD TV as long as HD receiver has a SCART out socket which most have at least one.

You would need to change the video settings on the HD receiver to output via SCART.

mad sod , we all agree hd is the way to go,,,,
but it does not end with a hd tv.
I would also want a cabinet so the front speaker would fit.
a sly hd box
a techomate 6800 ( dont want a pvr )
a hd 52" samsung or lg lcd tv

I have a Sky HD box and it displays a superb picture on my Panasonic 100Hz CRT. So the answer is yes you can watch HD on a standard TV.

However I believe the new SKY HD box disables the scart output on HD channels.
