Hi guys,
I know its possible to view 4:2:2 feeds using VLC, is it possible to do with HD 4:2:2, a lot of European Tour feeds are in this format, or is this a limitation with this box?
OK, thanks again,
harshy
No the DM800 will not do 4:2:2 , so as you say stream back to the PC and watch it there.

yeah I know you have to stream it back to PC to make it work, but can you do with HD 4:2:2 which is the question :)

HD 4:2:2 - care to tell me more?
Do you mean 4:2:2 mpeg4 (no such thing), do you mean H264 4:2:2 no such thing (per say) So I am a tad confused how to answer this other than how I did.
HD streaming on all e2 boxes is no where near as good as the zapstream application used in PLi E1 (and others) no matter the image. But it can only get better with time.
For all HD sports / news / event feeds I have seen here to date are all in raw 4:2:2 with the HD logos in some cases for re-broadcast to the local markets. Even the old Tandberg alteia's here see the so called HD 4:2:2 :)

hello not sure how to explain :)
today I am watching the Fed Cup feed on 4e which is 4:2:2 and HD and this works on my PC
but I tried with European Golf feeds and this dosen't work for some reason, indeed some HD channels never appear on the Enigma2 interface like Sly UK, or Sly It, I hope this makes sense, BTW HD streaming is flawless here on the channels that do work, but its machine and network dependant I guess.
OK, thanks,
harshy
so it is raw 4:2:2 as I said with a HD logo(if there at all) for local re-distribution (normal stuff).

yes you can see 4:2:2 feeds, but some are like HD/DVB-s2 and 4:2:2, maybe this is not possible as yet.
or the old Tandberg alteia's if you have a spare 1,000 quid for a second hand one ;)
The pci card is another way to go - I use the S2's here and others for the autoscanning we do for satcodx.com - they works a ripper too. If you see Bangkok autoscan that is me ..
You can also mutlicast these feeds back to the DM boxes as well with tsreader and vlc so you watch it on your TV (long winded but never the less works)

ah cool so not something thats possible with dm800 but with PCI card or expensive Tandberg receiver, ok thanks for info :)
or
1. save stream to PC HD with DM800 (transcode to 4:2:0 mpeg2)
2. Use VLC plugin to play it back on DM800 to TV
But ... as you said before for this to happen, you need a good network to do this and there is up to a 25second lag

:)
There is a subtype high profile 4:2:2 for mpeg 4,according to do***ents, and it is used,of course, why wouldn't be?

And yes,as long as the player is capable of render this type of video,it will work.
I do have some feeds like that, and vlc plays them. (my pc is too slow for this,so it crash the player, regardless, the player is capable.)
(some of the files are posted in the azboxHD section, you can try them if you like)
