You can play it directly - just FTP on your HDD and then play it like all others recorded movies (video button).
There is some restrictions with typ of files - movies with DTS sound can not play, also codes must be x.264 (no divx or somthing else).
All you need of sortware is alredy built-in in all newest images like Gemini 4.1 or nabilo v07.
You san also play subtitles too - built in or you can FTP your own SRT (when start playing a movie go to menu -subtitles)

not all x24 files work on numerous images its a problem.

they do for me...

just need to make sure they are AC3 sound and at the most a profile of 4.1

5.1 will need to be remuxed to a ts file

follow that and every mkv file will work, with nabilosat 0.7
