I've put a standard PC cpu fan into the cage and connected it to the board - looks like a standard PC motherboard fan connector. There are 3 wires - red, black & yellow. Normally the yellow wire is the controller cable (on/off) - but the fan never comes on! Wonder if: 1. dream,box isn't hot enough; or 2. cut the yellow wire & have fan on all the time.

Anyone know??

I am not aware of any over heating problems with the 8000, I would leave well alone if you don't have any problems.

Ahhh, BUT - I don't live in the UK - its 25C at home at the moment!!

It was 25c once here in the UK but I doubt it will be again in my life time :smilielol5:

I Have a fan on mine though it runs cool compared to my old 7000.

Connect the red cable of the fan, to the yellow cable of the hdd power cable, then connect the black cable of the fan to the red cable of the hdd power cable.

This will run the fan at 7volts, quiet but will auto start on ever reboot

Back on this again..
The fan turns on when you switch the box on, when BH .9 starts - the fan stops. If I run Oozoon xxxx, the fan runs all the time.
Now - a giant leap of fantasy
Perhaps there is a control file in the image with a min & max temperature setting?? Or just on/off
Any ideas anyone??

Yes - so do I...until 'er-in-doors moans!
looking for a quieter alternative - have been googleing quiet fans - but its one of those subjects - you want air movement, you get noise!

If you install a larger fan externally an do the 7volt trick you wont have a problem with the wife, with the dreamBox that is!
