Problem streaming

I have read quite a few tutorials, and i still can't get my PC with vista streaming to my db800 using nablo blackhole 0.7. My db will not see my pc. Is there a fool proof guide that works and easily explains what to do with jargon.

Have a loot at DreamStream

I have not tested this tool on E2 yet but I still use the old E1 version which does actaully work with E2

Sonic1 are the two files the same but different zip formats? And will this allow me to stream from my PC to my dreambox. i will give this a try later but your reply will helpp at this stage

The large file runs on your windows PC and I assume ( not tested ) the other file goes in your linux pc

Let me know how you get on also as I won't have a chance to test this myself for a couple of days';)

i am a bit confussed regarding where the files go on the dreambox, because some files are in folders could you please give the exact directory paths. i am fairly new at this,

Ignore the tar.gz file, It's for installation onto a linux pc.:respect-048:

Hi wwe,
ok I'm assuming youve got vlc on your pc (I'm running 0.9.6),
right click on the vlc shortcut thats on your desktop and choose properties,
now copy and paste this line into "target"

"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wxwin --extraintf=http

(assuming youve installed vlc in its default directory)
this will start vlc's web interface when you start vlc.
now Apply, OK and then start vlc using the shortcut.

next we switch to your dm800 running blackhole,
green button/vlc video player/green button (add server)
now enter your pc address in server address, eg: 192.168.1.65
now enter the folder on your pc where you want vlc to look for films, eg: /movies
to the Movie Directory line (if the folder isnt in your pc's root directory (eg: c: ) then you'll
need to add the drive letter also eg: d:/movies
now green button (ok)
now OK on your remote control and you should now have the contents of your pc folder on screen !

once your up and running you can go back and edit your server settings (yellow x2),
especially bitrate and resolution.

hope this gets you sorted.

ok i have vlc on my computer and db, and hyou won't believe this but i have tried every key and i can't find the / or \ key on the remote where the hell is it.

Iam now a little closer to cracking to this, but i can't find trhe : button, and also what video vile extentions will it play i.e. avi etc....

I am now a lot further forward i can see my directory with file files etc... but i can't play anythink. i am trying to open a avi and mpeg4 but they will not play. Also my dvd drive is on my f:\ what do I enter into the drewambox for this to work. I feel I am not too far off now

go to edit server and set the DVD device to f:/

it should be playing everything that vlc can handle

avi, mpeg, vob, mp4........

i have converted avi to mpeg2 and now the mpegs stream ok to my db, but i can't seem to find my dvd drive.

do i have to convert all my movies to mpeg or will it play other extensions

i now have both my laptop and Pc both streaming to the db800. But for some reason i can;t get the dvd drives to work both are on drive 'f''. Also how can i record to ny pc hard drive from my db800 i have a hard disk on my db but want to use my pc as well

as long as you've entered the dvd device as f:/ then there's no reason for your drives not being found that i can think of.
to record to your pc you'll need to set up a Cifs mount (blue button X2, Nabilo mount w i z a r d) and set local directory to /media/hdd/movie
no problem recording SD this way but haven't managed to record or playback HD correctly, the network cant handle the data transfer rate (stutters)
