If you try this make sure you have got a full working back up copy first !!!!!

I've just got his copy of Navcore v8.204 working on my Go500 with the latest v825.2157 UK & RoI map

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OR4Z0E9U

Extract zip file to your PC - open folder named ' Copy Contents To Tomtom Memory ' and copy all files to a blank memory card (or internal memory). If you are using a unit with a different screen size to the Go500 you will have to replace the 3 .BMP files with copies from your unit (antitheft, lowbattery & splash). Next stage is to add the new map folder and then activate it using the easyusetool - when I did all this I used a memory card reader to do everything. When you first start up your unit it will take a few minutes to boot up - & will do this every time you remove memory card or connect it to your PC, so don't worry if it's not an instant start up.

Hi m8,
Which tomtom units will this work on? I have been reading that this is a better Navcore than the 8.300 and 8.301.
I am looking to update my 520 and am not sure if I should go with this one or use the latest 8.301.
I have the 8.300 installed now and have problems with stuttering voices and bluetooth disconections.

This one should work on the 520, if not then try upgrading with an official software from Tomtom & then patch it using this :-

What are the benefits of Navcore v8.204 with v825.2157 map? What extra features do you get, and could I use this on my TomTom One XL ?

Russell1
21-03-2009, 08:31 PM
Don't know what features you get on your One XL, but with this version & the 825.2157 maps you get the IQ routes & ALG (lane guidance). What version of Navcore have you got on there now & is it the latest official version for your XL ?

Coppull Buster

It's Navcore 8.01 (official)..

So would I get IQ routes and ALG if I updated to Navcore 8.204 then ??

I've made a full backup & I've downloaded the updated version from the URL you kindly posted...

I have a busy week ahead, London monday & tuesday, Hull wednesday, then York thursday, so I wouldnt want to accidentally screw something up now, when I havent got time to sort it out.. I will have a play with it next friday when Im not going anywhere, lol..

Thanks again Russell1 (the tomtom guru) :respect-060:

Just tried it...

Made a back-up of my SD card, then formatted it. Then copied the contents of the Navcore v8.24 folder to the SD card. Then copied the UK map v825.2157 onto the SD card, then used easytools to activate it, everything appeared to go successfully, however when I put the card into my TomTom XL, it would only boot so far, then a screen appears saying "planning cancelled...", this stays on for about a minute then it reboots.. Keeps going round & round like that..!

Any ideas what Im doing wrong ?

Did you replace the .bmp files from the above copy - the screen size on your XL is different to my Go500 ?
Did you try to copy the mapsettings.cfg file from your old map folder ? If yu did then try deleting it.

Coppull Buster

Yeah I replaced the .bmp files just like you said... and I didn't try to copy the mapsettings.cfg file from my old map folder..

***UPDATE***
Ive got it booting ok now, I think I messed something up with the ttsystem file, but its booting up ok now..

Going to have a play with it to see how it goes..

Its booting now, and appears to be ok, but it is a little sluggish..

Also I can test & select voices, and they work ok when testing, but I cant hear anything when it is giving directions during a route..

Any ideas ?

Check the settings are ok & it's using the internal speaker. If still no good try these two files - they are the latest UK voices from Tomtom.

Sorted mate.... it was an I.D ten T error !!

Just a quick question... Can I still go onto TomTom home for updates, now that Ive upgraded to v8.204 ?

Russell1
28-03-2009, 11:15 PM
Yes - I get the updates on my maps. Connect to Tomtom Home & go to 'Operate my Tomtom' - you'll then have to download a file for this. Once it's been downloaded you'll get a message along the lines that you cant use the map. Close down TT Home - then use the patcher tool to patch Tomtom home. Once you've done this everything should work & you'll be able to get the mapshare updates.

All done and patched, appears to be working 100% now..

Thanks again for your advice Russell, much appreciated..

This is already patched. Try starting with a blank memory card & then add this version - then add map & postcode file & activate the map.

It works fine on some One & Go300 units, but some users may have problems. Make a full back up copy before you try it.

Hi Steven,

I have two SD cards for my GO300, one with Navcore v8.204 on and this works very well, I also use Navcore v8.410 on the other SD card also working well, of the two I think Navcore v8.204 give you more options, however, having said that I tend to use Navcore v8.410 as this is a newer Navcore.

I use map UK & RI v830.2305, with IQ and ALG working well as are map updates.

Use Tomtom Home & upgrade to the latest official navcore for your Go720. It will then need patching & any new copied maps will need activating.

If using the pgpsw cam files - just use one set - depending on the amount of info you want for the cameras - then copy all the .OVs & .BMP files into the map folder.
