View Full Version : DM800 "SID not found in PAT" problem

Help please... How can I fix this bug?

I get brand new DM800 and flashed it with GP2 4.1. I receive signal from Badr 26.0E, Hotbird 13.0E, and Nilesat/Atlantic Bird 7.0W.

I have run through the setup and scanned the satellites, however, I cannot receive signal but from Badr. No service found upon scanning Nilesat and Hotbird.
When I switch to a Hotbird or Nilesat channel, the message:
SID not found in PAT
appears and the service is not found.

I have tried to change in the satellites configuration with no use.

I have flashed the decoder to the original image and the problem remains. I have uploaded the latest channel list to the decoder with no use

When I connect the same satellite cable to DM600 , it works perfectly on all satellites, which means that the error is not from the satellite dishes or diseqc setup.

So please help... I spent more than 6 hours yesterday trying to fx this problem with no use

I think the problem is with your antenna settings.

You must take the diseqc switch out, then feed one lnb at a time, see if you get the same message when tuning a channel from this sat.
If you have signal and video,or if at least it locks the channel but with black screen,it means your LNB settings are incorrect.

The same cable is used with DM600 and all sats worked fine.:bigear:

You don;t get it : the dm600 has CORRECT diseqc/lnb settings
The DM800 DON"T !!!
Logically, the dm600 WILL work with the same cable.

Why you ask if you don;t try what is suggested to you?

Do you recommend a specific Diseqc brand?

No
I recommend you to take off the switch, run the cable from one satellite directly to the box, then see if it tune the channels in this sat.
Do this and report back, tell us what happen when you use the direct cable.

check all the lnb settings as one of them is probably wrong , either tone or fast diseqc or whatever

I've the exact same problem now, ie my 4 LNB setup was fine with my DM7020, but with the DM800 some of the LNBs will not switch correctly and I either get a "tune failed" message, or else the "SID not found in PAT".

When i try each LNB seperately as suggested all is working ok, ie each LNB is giving me the desired signal.

I am wondering how can I change the LNB settings as suggested by Echelon,
there seems to be only one option for a 4 LNB config, ie simple diseqc A/B/C/D ?

I've had a tip already (thanks Tareq :) ) that getting a spaun switch will solve the problem, ive already tried 2 different switches with no luck, and if I can solve the problem without spending money then great.

cheers ... Wally

Yea, I am on my 2nd replacement DM 8k box under warranty and a tuner has just gone down on it.

Every thing is wonderfull here.:dupe:

Worse thing I ever bought.

well, I just installed the new tuner and the damn problem is still there :(

The astra 2 channels will always tune, regardless of which input of the 4-1 switch I use ... I also have 2 other inputs for Hotbird and Astra1, but if I am on an Astra 2 channel, and switch to either of them they will not tune ... now here is the funny thing ... if I then put the box into standby for a short time and turn it back on again , the hotbird/astra1 channel is then working !!! ... and I can now switch between hotbird and astra1 and back again no problem, but as soon as I go to a Astra 2 channel again, it will never tune on either astra1 or hotbird again ... unless I goto standby again ! ...

should all this be telling me something ?

oh, and something else .. I cannot ever tune any HD channels on either astra1 or hotbird , regardless of the 'standby trick' ... the astra 2 HD channels all decode without a problem.

Where can you get these in the UK?

I mailed the distributor a while back but didn't get any reply, not seen them on any site either.

Not sure what the policy on mentioning non-sponsor related sites is, but I see the 'rainforest place' has them ...

I've used several DiSEqC switches in the past and there doesn't seem to be any standard for the input names.

Some are just 1, 2, 3, 4 others AA, AB, BA, BB and some A, B, C, D

The problem is that they don't necessarily bring in the inputs in that order.

Have you tried finding them one at a time by changing the order in the 800s setup.

@ wallycharlo is Astra 2 on input 1 by any chance ? If so the 800 isn't sending the input change code correctly when navigating away from it but does send the correct code after going into standby. A change of switch might cure it but the basic fault is with the 800.

BTW A m a z o n say out of stock but German 3bay has them.

Detlef, I've tried Astra 2 in both inputs 1 and 3, the effect is the same either way ...

I got mine on a popular auction site. I can tell you it solved my problem with Sid not found in PAT immediately.
It's a power issue and you need a switch that can do the job.
This was quoted in many other places as being a problem solver.
For me, it definitely worked .

so guys, here comes an update ...

my Spaun 411f swtich arrived, and hey presto, it solves my swtiching problems ! ... so I can now switch between my different LNBs :cheers2:

BUT ... there is still one problem remaining ... I cannot tune any HD channels on hotbird / astra1

I get a "tune failed" ... the HD channels on Astra 2 are all coming in good, as are the non HD channels on Hotbird / Astra1, so I do not think it is a signal strength issue ?

Any ideas ? ... It's not the switch, as when I remove the switch and make a direct connection, I get the same problem ...

cheers ... Wally

I can definitely recommend the Spaun diseqc switch, just fitted my new 212F and found not just a signal improvement, but also faster zapping speed.

Previously I had a standard Technomate switch, and I'm using a VBoxII for my motor.

Back in November I posted looking for a UK vendor who could supply Spaun switches, as I was already well aware of the improvement it could give to my system. I posted in this thread with the same question, as you obviously have managed to source one.

With over 600 thanks given out, I think that I'm usually pretty good at clicking the old thanks button if somebody has given good advice that helps me out. In this case, on reviewing the thread, I should probably have given Detlef the heads-up for pointing me in the right direction, the others suggested by you and wally, having proved fruitless.

I've never asked for thanks, and appreciate the acknowledgement that others have deemed my posts worthy of, but it is no big deal to me. There have also been many, many posts where I have given help without receiving any thanks, and frankly I don't care, as helping out fellow dudez is what it is all about.

So chill out, I'm sorry if you feel hard done by, and next time I'll make sure that I click on your ty button if you help me in the future.

Plus, if you take a look to post #8 in this thread, you will notice that I had already mentioned the fact that a Spaun switch may solve my problem ... I was going down the new tuner route first :respect-054:

Hmm, well that sounds like a message needing a chill out.
I was only joking right. But seriously, "The others proving fruitless", **** has many different incarnations you know which is where I suggested people get these.
Did you miss all these listed here -REMOVED BY ADMINThats that popular auction site I mentioned in German flavour. Very handy when your sourcing German items.
Ah, not to worry, I was having a laugh. :respect-040:

TVDX... Sorry, but you've only got 43 posts in 4 and half years, most of them seem to be in this thread (well, it feels that way), moaning saying you should be given some thanks. So you can't really go around telling people how they should treat you.

No, it doesn't sound like you're joking. It sounds like now you're trying to make that excuse. Fine, don't mind if that's what it is... But the fact that you're begging for thanks is totally wrong. People give thanks if they want to, or have good enough etiquette to give it...

Anyway, people are buggers. They thank, or not thank, as they want. I'm pretty sure you haven't given thanks for every single thing that you've found useful...

Stop moaning, give in to the fact people aren't perfect, and get over it. Then, start helping other people, and hope that they do give thanks...
