Update from the Sky+HD team
As many of you have now seen, we have begun the roll out of the new Sky+HD Guide. We’ve been encouraged by the initial reaction so far and want to ensure that we continue to roll out the new guide in a way which ensures as smooth a transition as possible for all of our Sky+HD customers. We also want to help clarify any major areas of interest and from the comments we’ve read so far, it’s clear that many of you are interested in understanding both why certain boxes have received the guide first and over what time frame the rollout will take place.

The first group that received the new guide yesterday was selected on the basis that they were part of a distinct batch of boxes that were both relatively small in number and self-contained. We purposely chose to roll-out to this small and controlled batch of boxes first so that we could ensure both our customer communications and internal processes are fully operational and working as planned, prior to a wider roll-out.

We will be taking feedback from customers over the next few weeks and when we can confirm that everything is proceeding to plan, we will then continue a phased roll-out over the coming months, prioritising our most long standing HD customers first. All customers will receive the new Sky+ HD Guide user pack in the mail just prior to their receiving the new guide, and we will continue to enhance our online site to make sure you can get the most out of all the new functionality.

New EPG hasn't shown on my SLYHD box yet, but watching ITVHD on my DM800 and the picture and sound is top notch tonight.

Well I watched much of the Liverpool match on ITV HD tonight (in between watching the Test cricket on my Sly HD) - and YES it was crystal clear - but thru my TM6900HD Super, so are we or arent we saying its also coming to the Sly box as well shortly?
Its certainly not on my Thomson HD box tonight, thats all!:frown:

Seems it doesnt appear on the HD EPG unless its actually broadcasting M8 - cant get over that when all other channels are there ALL the time - even when not on air!

just a bit of info the updates will be done in version number order

eg mine is 4E3006,, it started with 4E3004 as this has the smallest number of boxes.

to get the installer menu enter the settings (with the spanner symbol on) in top left hand corner,
then below you will see
boxes: picture sound details signal health etc
press 01 select to enter installers menu,there you have it


just in case you couldn't find it.lol

My Thompson HD box was updated yesterday. Love the the new look and features, but now the interactive RED Button has stopped working. I get the please wait, then it goes back to the "Press red button"

I guess thats a phone call to Sky later then.:o15:

Never, ever, ever, set the contrast on a Sky box to High. You'll be blowing out lots of high level detail.

Sure, but you don't want to totally ruin the quality of the source, which is what happens when you set the box to high. You lose highlight information, and it doesn't matter how your TV is set up, you cannot get it back.

Looks shocking on my Panasonic, and on my Kuro. The ISF use low or sometimes medium, but tell calibrators never to use high as it's widely known to be dreadful.

The contrast control is broken for Pace HD boxes, if you've got one of those don't go near it with a ten foot pole.

no m8,its via the add channels in services but only after HD box recieves new update,only be a matter of time m8,ive read lately ITV are prepared to negotiate but sky are on a big HD push at the moment anyway ,id say in the summer only a very limited service at the moment anyway would it be worth ITV paying for a channel on skys EPG for a few programmes a week,doubt it in current climate and dont know if sky can implement the red button ITVHD on ITV1 like the freesat box does time will tell

i have noticed my hard drive spinning up a few times dont know why cos ive got anytime switched off to cut down on crashes can do without that on a 2yr old HD box

I can confirm my box has the new EPG Guide etc etc.

Must have updated last night.

It updated with just my Free to View card inside aswell.

So no sub card needed although they do have me as a subsrciber but the sub card is located in the DM800hd.

yes m8,its quite similar once you get used to it especially if you turn the small screen off,,the text is a bit smaller and its a bit blue,but its got all the same features

m8 goto options tab then scroll across to other channels its in there

Sorry to disappoint you mate - but got it TODAY - just in time for Man U match on ITV HD!
Expect will have to manually search it in though as think I read somewhere its not yet on 'automatic' EPG!:respect-050:

First impressions are that its EXCELLENT - bit disappointing you have to manually scan in ITV HD - but at least its there now under 'Other Channels'!
All so much sharper, slick, comprehensive, now even know how to get into intallation menu too - all the recording gives exactly what the old version did PLUS the little picture top right showing channel you are on at the start - used to be SO irritating when you felt 'in the dark' whilst browsing channels!
My initial feeling is that the fast forward & back are working more slickly too - it used to refuse to go as fast as selected bfore - sometimes reverse play had little effect & used to hang up - even culminating with a reboot to get out of it - so yes its sorted that software problem out too, so they HAVE listened to all these complaints over the years!
Yes I do hear it starting up periodically - but think it always has?
So far then its MUCH better than the old verion EPG - see how others get on with it!:respect-050:
