I have managed to receive the following satellites:

30w, 15w, 8w, 5w, o.8w.

5e, 7e, 13e, 16e, 19.2e, 23.5e, 26e, 28.2e.

I cannot pick up:

4w Amos 1/2, 7w Nilesat 101 & 42e turk sat.

I have a 90cm solid dish and live in S.W. Scotland.

Any ideas?

I would have thought you could get some of 42e and possibly some of 4w but for nilesat you probably need to double the size of your dish or go even bigger !

Does this suggest my alignment is slightly off?

I get over 90% signal quality on Astra, Thor, Hotbird, Eurobird etc. I get good quality on most sats...at least 70%.

it suggests to me that you are not in the target area , the clue being the word nile in nilesat ;)

and due to some beams being pointed at the middle east and not the uk you wont see those either

my point here is that not everything is beamed directly at the uk , whereas the ones you have strong signals on are being beamed onto europe and some of them onto the uk

Thanks echelon!!

I had a look to see if changing the dish elevation whilst at Amos 4e and lowering or increasing the elevation showed a drop in signal on my sat meter.

So I feel I am in the right place.

I thought Amos was a Scandinavian sat and would be no probs to pick up?

No Arnie, you wont be able to pick amos up. You would need a dish of over 2m to be able to do so. You should however be able to get 12W, 9E and 10E though.

It may have helped if you had said where " HERE " is, ie your location, you could be down South, where as the OP is North of the Border.
