Does any one know if there is a media player,( like the Western Digital, Hyundai or Emprex ), that will play the files recorded by the TM9600.
I have a big collection of HD films I have recorded onto USB drives and I would like to play them on my other TV , and take them to friends and families houses, without having to lug the reciever along too.
I have scoured the web trying to find an answer to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
The players mentioned are not software media players like VLC etc.I already know how to play the files on a computer or record them at reduced resolution. The media players are hardware and are sold by ****** etc.

Is it not easier to convert the HD recordings to the format the hardware mediaplayer will play?
you can use programs like videoinspector, gspot, mediainfo, ... to find out what format your TM-6900 recorded in.
convert a TM-6900 HD recording to the format of your wanted HD Media player. Put it on a USB stick, go to the local shop and see if it will play your converted recording.
check also if the wanted hardware has
the connections you want (HDMI 1.1,1.2,1.3,... HDCP)
USB port(s), other video out connections, ...
Compatibility problems on HDMI

make sure you take the equipment for you're locality (US/EU/..) so it is compatible.

Popcorn Hour A110 will play TM's TRP files without conversion as far as I understand it, but I haven't had the opportunity to test one yet.

Thanks very much for the replies .
I do not want to convert the files as they will not play on the Technomate after conversion and I would have to double up on hard drives.
The Popcorn sounds great but I would like to know that it plays the technomate files before buying if pos.

I had a quick check on the popcorn hour support site and it seems that at the moment the TRP files from TM6900 are not being opened, but a fix seems to be on the way.

Not many shops selling these players at the moment, Popcorn Hour only available on the web...

The TRP files created by TM6900 are indeed valid MPEG streams, but the the PAT/PMT missing, which means they cannot be played back on media players (tried on mine too, same result). However it is possible to "fix"the files using the tsremuxer, but that's not what the OP was looking to do.

The guys over on the NMT site are even bigger anoraks that us lot, I'm sure that a fix will be found for the Popcorn Hour in the near future...

Ive actually given up playing my TM6900 files on anything other than my TM. Also converting them is such hard work as well. Ive gone back to good old DVRW now for recording non HD stuff i may want to keep. Ive a smart MX05 which records in DVR format which is much simpler to convert. DVR-mpeg1-AVI. The conversation from DVR to MPEG seems just like a file extension change as it takes seconds to do. Then i run the MPEG file through Vdub to take out ads and convert to avi.

There is no decoding done, the program takes only the needed content out of its container (MPEG-TS)
