Burning HD Movies on DM8000

I can burn std definition movies to DVD, no problem but can only burn files to disc for HD movies (unplayable on a stand alone DVD player). How is it possible to get the HD movie in a format on a disc which will play on either a DVD player or Blue Ray player apart from resorting to using VLC to open a file on the hard drive of a PC (or on a disc). Anyone got any experience of this or pointers ?

if you can burn your dvd you can play it in your dvd palyer in your dream 8000 if you got one.but if you want to play inyour pc you can transfer the file to your pc with dream box control center and play it in your pc with vlc.f you want to convert vlc to multimedia player to play it in any dvd player you need to convert it from vlc to media player .you can download avs .6 converter to do that fore you

You can burn HD movies to bluray (BD-R) or AVC-HD format, but the player (bluray) has to support it. Know that if you use BD-R you need to author the whole thing for BD format before burning to BD-R.

MrBogus, what package would you use to convert a DM8000 .ts file to either .m2ts or blueray format. I have a blue ray burner and BD-r price is dropping very quicly now (25GB).

The Latest [ Nero 9 ] Is what you need m8!!!![ Not tried it myself ]!!! You say you have a [ blue ray burner ] Think they run a MAX[ 4X ] It will take you a long time to burn any HD Movie:respect-048:

Thanks Rabby (Burns?), I have burnt many BluRay movies up to 45 Gb so 10 Gb or so for a satellite HD movie should be no problem. The biggest issue is converting a .ts file to blue ray playable structure!
