Speakers £146.76 Tannoy sfx
Blu ray player bdp350 £157
Amp Onkyo 506 is £199.00 but the Onkyo 606 would sound better at £379.99.

Try the YAMAHA RX-V1700 price in scandinavia about £1000,- ( maybe not the same model in the uk ) as ur amplifier, it has loads of connections hdmi in/out, optical in/out,,, and numerous choices of digital inputs...
Works well for me!!!

It's pointless getting Blu-ray if you don't have a 1080P TV.
If you just want 5.1 sound and on a tight budget, then any old DVD player with the right disc, and a secondhand AV amp will do the job, but expect to spend at least £200 on a good secondhand speaker system with active sub-woofer if you want something that sounds reasonable.

i am confused ok ,, i want a panasonic tv with surround sound both from a panasonic blue ray and sly tv!!!! have heard so many iffy replies yes .. no .. may be ,, i even rang the shop( that sells tvs). and he said yes it would be ok but im still uncertain,,,,,
Speakers £146.76 Tannoy sfx
Blu ray player bdp350 £157
Amp Onkyo 506 is £199.00 but the Onkyo 606 would sound better at £379.99.
That was exactly the setup I was going to buy to pair with my 42" panasonic plasma until I read about the loading times on Blu-ray players.
After loads of research I opted to go for
Onkyo 606
Tannoy SFX
Playstation 3
Yeah a playstation 3 and i dont even play games !!!
The PS3 has turned out to be a wise buy as it has been able to update itself everytime there has been as update to the blu-ray/HDMI format. (i also bought the bluetooth remote control £17)
Loading times for disks are very fast (same as my DVD player i would say).
Bluray is not all about picture quality though, the sounds this set up can give off a bluray are trully amazing.
The PS3 is worth a look asa bluray player even if you are a non gamer as I have also started to use it for playing MP3/MP4 files and storing my family photos. Not much more £££ than a standalone player but has far more functions and I might even sell it when the players finally catch up coz it will still be worth something unlike a BDP350 or BD-P1400

I also have PS3, and using a Harman Kardon AVR255 with 5.1 speakers which sounds amazingly good. :D
It's possible to get better picture from a dedicated Blu-Ray player, but the PS3 is quite good, and I don't want more black boxes taking up space.

as mentioned mate go the PS3 route for Blu-Ray although i dont have one in my setup i have seen them working and the BD movies look fab.
Sky will work in the same setup as the PS3 i think that the Onkyo 506 has 3 HDMI inputs so no problems, but i would suggest if funds can be stretched go for the 606 it's by far better speced, all you need to do then is connect everything HDMI into the Onkyoand it becomes your switching center, you wont really need the speakers on the TV unless you want to use them in particular.
happy viewing and listening.

5 year warranty can be had on all TV's from John Lewis for free.
Warranty is more important than just the brand name, as LCD/Plasmas are usually very expensive to repair out of warranty, and often just replaced as not repairable.
