I am thinking getting it as I have 3 HD tv's and watch nothing in high def.
Does the sky hd box also give me ordinary non hd channels as well ?
I am not in any hurry to give Murdoch any of my money so i will just get the basic entertainment packs as I choose.
Will I be also to buy (if I am mind blowing ****ed or stupid) any ppv events or films. ?
Will I be able to record terresterial channels as well and freeview from my tv tuner on my hd tv ?
Also can I get the freesat tv as well ?
I do not want the broadband or the phone. (i have heard horror stories)
Is there anything I should be aware of and whats your opinion of what comes with it.
Regards

Wow, what a lot of questions ! ;)
Yes, SkyHD box also gives you (and you can record) SD channels, and of course they will allow you(!) to waste your hard earned money when trolleyed on PPV movies and footy etc...
You can't AFAIK record anything on the SkyHD box from other sources.
All the Freeview/Freesat bouquet of chanells are available (subject to how much you want to pay).
There is (again AFAIK) a 3 month waiting list for SkyHD.

Hi MrBleu
thanks for the post which answers most of my questions .
as for freeview and freesat the operative word is free !!!!!!!!!! I dont want bto keep adding to the cost.
After years on using my hummy 5400 and buying cams ect as required and swearing never to give Sky money I am struggling to get this done and have
Still got it under consideration .

If you stop your subscription anything you have saved to harddrive will be useless (I was taping stuff like mad coming to the end of my subscription) and the pause/recording function won't work either.
All you will be able to use it for will be fta channels in real time.
My recommendation is to spend a bit more money in the first place, get a motorised dish and a decent receiver.
I have tm6900 hd combo super with diablo cam. Even though the Canal nordic channels have gone there is still lots to watch and I'm sure something else will crop up.
The tm6900 hd super combo also receives dtt so you get both.
Maybe you should hang on to before buying a diablo cam but I reckon you will be saving money (compared to s*y) within a year and (my personal opinion) is that the viewing selection available using my setup is much better than that offered by our australian friend.
The only + point for s*y is that its more convenient (epg etc) but I have no regrets about getting my setup and would recommend you consider something like it.

Hi Joany
Already got a motorised dish and diablo cam so only the reciever will be needed.
Just getting impatient to get some HD on my tv's :cheers2:

borg, i registered with sky to enable me to order a sky hd box (yes 3 months waiting b4 they will take your order) after registering 3 weeks ago and not even receiving a peep. i contacted a local aeria/sat guy, he is coming round this sat exactly 7days later to install for the same price as sky and its not an amstrad. so dont wait for sky go, independent, sky hd + is superb. just my opinion. cheers chippy

If they dropped the £9.75pm HD sub then I'd get one.

ITV HD is now available for free on Sly, provided the new updated "planner" has been installed on the HD box.
Plenty of info on the HD TV sub forum :applause-003:
