Development tools and compiler for the ARM chip can be bought online, unlike the chipsets used in other boxes :) This may make an open source solution a more practical possibility than with other linux boxes...

Could this rx have the potential to be the ultimate hobby box?

the programer behind this box is the same guy from Triple Dragon receiver
i wold be carfull with this box, if we look back Triple Dragon was the worst linux receiver there is of date.

but for the price it should be good, and if CCcam comes to it , as roumors say then this box will take over most of the marked, right pris and CCcam this will be a killer

goran, multimedia side of this receiver is no match yes, but main CPU is much stronger. Remember, sigma only has simple cpu inside.


Also, do subtitles work here?

I have one Goran :D and I do believe it is worth the money yes.

- you can go very fast trough the menu options, never seen such speed. but this is normal with neutrino combined to such fast cpu.
- zapping is also fast
- picture quality is both great on SD as HD channels

- movieplayer still under development but no issue for me as I have a nmt mounted to the coolstream to play all kinds of files. Coolstream does support mkv but the rest not yet.
- no power off by remote, only with switch at the back
- bit noisy fan inside but you can regulate speed in menu. some people modified it for a silent one or replaced it for a passive cooler.

mgcamd, newcs, oscam all run on it and you can even connect to cccam using mgcamd as client. So all is possible. It's a nice machine to play with but you better know something about linux and stuff otherwise just buy a dm800 or whatsoever.

The problem with streaming is with licences for BluRay etc.

Also, CS all in one package is a no go...
