Technomate 6900 V AZbox ?

Looking to upgrade i've had many years service from my TM 5000dapci & although still working fine i need to move on, but which way ? I'm considering the afore mentioned, could somebody help by highlighting the + & - of each.

I'd have to say TM6900HD as mine is brilliant to operate plus produces a beautiful 1080i HD picture - but then who am I to judge I suppose when I have absolutely NO experience of the Azbox stbs!:respect-050:

If you want a box that's stable then at this time I recommend the TM6900HD

If your willing to wait then the Azbox may / should be the dogs dangleys

Thanks for rapid response, with the TM do you need a cam / card or are the software files getting the available channels, with my present stb i've used a dragon cam. But recently upgraded my pc & haven't got a serial port for my infinity programmer, so the dragons been put to bed.
One of the reasons for considering the AZbox was the cable card which should be available soon, as i have a cable box connection. Anybody who has an AZbox is it such a steep learning curve ?

I personally would not buy any Technomate receiver.

Also I will not buy Azbox HD until some of the major problems are fixed.

Moving to any linux box is a steep curve.

The Azbox is beyond steep (more like vertical) due to buggy software at this time.

My previous experience of TM-9100......

Poor picture quality and software problems.

Mainly the poor picture though on SD.

I am not saying that all TM's are bad but I don't wish to try another.

SD & HD are quit good on a TM6900HDCombo Super
HD viewing and testing:
BBC HD at 1080i (28.2°E) (normal programs)
Astra HD at 1080i (23.5°E) (optimised selection?)
ARD-ZDF HD test at 720p (19.2°e) (Technical tests)

Also depends on screen, the used connection between screen & STB and personal taste. Try to have a direct comparison. And if in the showroom, try not to have the showroom mode on the display. Some brands have this setting (or simular).

I guess the TM is like a Ford Focus, simple, reliable and does pretty much does what it says on the tin.

While the AZBox is more like a pre-production Ferrari 430 in kit form with no instruction manual and with most of the switches on the dashboard having no labels. Also, there's no fourth gear, the brakes don't work, the windscreen goes opaque every time it reaches 64.6 mph...

Have no experience of the AZ box or linux recievers so I cannot comment on these, however having recently purchased a TM 6900 super I thoroughly agree with the comments of Giga and holmroad.
Excellent picture quality HD&SD, Fast , Versatility, Ease of use. User friendly.
I would say a great reciever for its price.
Look at as many post as possible on both recievers to help you make your decision. Plenty on Forum.

mrbleu500 forgot to mention that if you fit the genuine Ferrari furry dice on the mirror then the boot lid falls off.. there is also an issue with left hand corners, right hand ones are fine.. so there's a rumour that Ferrari are now advising to keep going around the block in a clockwise direction until there is a fix.

I've been looking through lots of the posts on the TM 6900 & checked Technomate site for specs, can somebody explain the ethernet communication & e sata port usage ? must admit verticle take off & furry dice do appeal is there a parachute included.

ethernet port can be used for:
updating firmware from your computer to STB.
passing firmware (software and channellist to 2nd TM 6900)

Myself thinking of going for a second 6900HD combo super to replace the 5300 D+ USB in the bedroom and try internal CS between the 2, so I can watch something else while the wife watches the soaps. Our using 2 different paid cards for both STB's. (Economics)
