Just got home with my one of these, got a lot on so only had chance for a quick mess. I see it has some channels and some faves in it, but some are out of date etc, is there a way to scan and allow it to replace the dead faves with the updated frequencies or is it a long laborious scan by hand and then redo faves?

When you scan, does it mark the HD channels so they're easy to find and put in HD faves?

Any other tips?

I plan to grab the latest patch from the TM site later, install that and then play further so would appreciate any pointers guys. Looking forward to playing with this, seems a great box.

all depends if you have a motorised setup, or fixed lnb's
organizing is easiest done with Clarke Tech Editor Studio.
Just be carefull not to lose the terrestial frequencies.

marked in the favourites with blue HD, once viewed

Just to add to Giga's post, the TM official firmware on the TM site is not a patch, but just the "legal" firmware, to access the quasi-legal features ;) you need to lead the unofficial firmware pointed to in the post.

That's a bummer that you have to view the HD channels before they show as HD, mind you, cant have everything i suppose. I have motorised dish and am 'fairly' familiar with this box as i have a TM5400 + super, but with this one seemingly having some decent faves in it, I'd have liked to try and keep them.

I know when I got my 5400 i did a blind scan of all the major sats, then clarke edited out all the radio stations and uploaded it to here along with a favourites list biased towards the Diablo cam. Thing is, that wouldn't be worth putting onto this box as it wont have any HD channels.

I'll have a look for the uploaded one for the 6900

First impressions, I'm very impressed with this box, it's updated from the manual though, back view is different on my box, it has 4 RF connections for a start, couldn't get the digi freeview stuff at first as i was plugged into the other RF's which are for god knows what. Has anyone found a use for the built in network adapter yet?

Gonna download the patch now and throw it at the box, see what happens.

Network adapter can be used to hook up your TM to your router, allows access to open stuff using CS, check around the 6000 series forum for more info.

When you take the channel list in the CT studio editor, you can change the colour of the names to show different for HD FTA and HD scrambled.
on the KoS satellite website you have all the HD listed on this page:
http://en.*********.net/hdtv.php
or if your on their site you click on HD icon in the top right corner when you selected a satellite

Thanks for the info so far guys, am thinking i might go the whole hog, having backed up the existing channel list, I might do a blind scan of all my sats and then do some work in clarke, also can anyone please PM me and tell me what cant be discussed about as described in patch, still trying to get my head round that patch too, I take it the compass one is the latest?

There's a lot of fun in getting a new reciever but a lot of headaches too lol

Just trying to read all the 6900 posts on here but it's really hard, pimps is really running slow my end

BUGGER!!! I bought two of these recievers today, the one i was playing with was for me, the second for a mate, went to my mates, installed the box, everything set up fine, came to install patch, the USB wont recognise that a mem stick has been inserted, not the front one or the rear one, so swapped his for mine and will take one back tomorrow for replacement. Tried 2 mem sticks, both work fine in one box, other doesn't aknowlege insertion.

also, ITV HD I'm just getting service not available, has it changed transponders or something or is it down? The default channel list on these is way old!

figured it, did a google. Am just annoyed about the USB thing now as channel arranging will have to wait.

Seems the patching is a little like having a diablo built in, got a diablo anyway but might as well have belt AND braces. They're an awesome box though.

Mate - to get 'ITV HD not avialable' is the NORM - it hardly ever IS available, so it doesnt mean there's anything wrong with your system!:respect-050:

Its just a matter of luck what you get mate - they never seem to have their 'flagship' progs like Corrie, Brits Got Talent, etc etc - but only 'minority' films etc or footie - and even the footie they seem to frequently muck up with picture breakup and poor audio!:frown::frown:

as the softcam wont show on the stick if that what u mean

it will look like it wont recognise the stick

TopHouse

Nope, it wont do anything with the stick at all, even when stick is inserted you dont get the ubb inserted pvr ready message, and attampting anything at all with file system it just says usb device not inserted.

As an aside, has anyone used the eSATA socket on one of these with a hard drive? If so, how does it handle it?

Got 500G esata external drive once set up works like a dream, you have to go to the official Technomate website to format the hard drive, once you formatted and connected to the stb dont forget to switch the stb off, then it works ok.Apparently the ordinary usb memory stick cannot handle H.D recordings.

esata: not working with a WD My Book Home Edition
USB stick/ harddisc: need to format with the TM format utility:
How to Format a Hard Disc HDD Brief Manual download this and format the stick on a PC and give a volumelabel.

You could be lucky it is recognised. I use an old 32MB stick for this.

Got the box swapped and now all is fine, also started compiling channels and have a brilliant tip I think a few wont know, also had an idea if a few 6900 users are prepared to get involved, I'll start another thread on that one though.

When I've put my cunning plan into action I'll post a link here.
