Been 'playing' with this program:-
E2_LOADEPG it's like to XMLTV project but more simple and written in Python 2.5 instead of Perl.
It can be launched from Enigma2 Set-Top-Box like Dreambox 7025,800,8000, IPBOX 9000HD (see note 1), KATHREIN UFS-911 or everywhere a Python 2.5 interpreter (PC, Mac ...) is installed.
It downloads the events data from many web sites or satellite trasponder using specific download modules and create the ENIGMA2 EPG file cache.
It's intended to be run once a day manually or using CRON. It's not a ENIGMA2 plugin: it's a stand-alone software.
It's written in a modular way: a main core that interact with download module(s). Anyone can write their own download modules using Python 2.5
