None of the available channel list editors for the 6000 series work properly, so I was thinking of writing my own. Looking at the CNDF file format it doesn't look like it is particularly complicated, but to save me from doing a reverse engineer on it, does anyone know if the format has been do***ented anywhere?

I can't help you on what you're looking for,
but I can inform you that Clarke Tech Editor Studio v3.09
handles perfectly my TM6900 Super's ch-lists,
I can edit anything in my lists.
Anything new on this issue is welcome though!...

think problem starts when using web update or having to many transponders sometimes I end up with only one transponder available on a satelllite, when I want to auto navigate. But I have to admit I did try to have satellite positions split up having for each satelitte and beam a satellite name.
1°W spot 1, 1°W spot 3, Thor 5 T1, Thor 5 T2, Thor 5 T3, ....
did not work out as I wanted

@mrblue500
sharpc (Channel Master) seems to have cracked the ndf layout, nothing much else found on it. There is a Software Development Kit, don't know if this will help: Google for sharpc and cmsdk1_18_04

Thanks Giga, I will check it out, the Channel master app certainly reads NDF files, so maybe this will help.

Some of the issues I have found with the NDF-Edit program are:

1. If you sort the channel list, the favourites list gets corrupted and you lose them all.
2. You can't create a file from scratch that is readable by the receiver.

And the CT editor is not much better... Many times it has failed to open a file, and the default new file has too many favourites which barfs when you try and load onto the receiver.

The basic file structure seems to be Header, Sats, Channels, favourites; and I guess it shouldn't take too long to work out. What I'd like to do is to create a web-based tool which reads and writes channel lists (initially for the TM, but once created it can be expanded to others) and allows you to edit, sort and configure your channel lists as easily and reliably as possible. Of course it should be able to pull in and refresh data from all the usual places, maintain your list on the web, allowing others to share if you want :)

Eventually it could be ported to work as a plugin on linux receivers I guess...

If anyone is interested in working together on this, let me know. A web based tool opens up the possibility to support the project via advertising, so it may even make a little money.

I prefer the setedit clarke tech one to the usual clarke tech version. Wolfgang has been doing his editors for a long time and for many different recievers.

on the editors:
NDFEditor 1.6.2 in combination with TM-Loader For TM-1000-5000-6000 Series.exe, Clarke Tech Editor Studio 3.0.9 seems to be working more reliable using the RS232 port and up/down loading straight from the TM-6900 HD Combo super. Working with file over usb and changing the contents and saving the file again can corrupt the file somehow?
On xp with the serial port (com1) set to:
19200 bits per second
databits: 8
parity: none
stopbits: 1
data (flow) control: none

don't use the auto feature in any of the programs, just open and start transfer.
