moved to the correct forum

due to the fact that the earth is round you wont get anything in the states here in the uk , and vice versa you wont get uk channels in the states

never mind the fact that you wont get a big enough dish the sheer fact of the curvature of the earth , and that the satellite transponders are designed to hit only certain areas of the earth means that you cannot pick up a usa satellite system here in the uk , and vice versa

as for spain , they usually use dishes of about 1.8Metres to 2.4 metres in size for uk channels , mainly due to the beams being centred on the uk with high dropoff rates the further from the uk you go

ie:- they focus the beams onto the uk

lyngsat.com has maps showing the footprints of these various beams and satellites

we can sometimes get some usa channels from 15w on certain boxes but that is because they are transmitting their channels from 15w at europe

Ku-band Steerable 1:
060cm (zaragoza, palma)

150cm (murcia, cartagena)
240cm (córdoba, granada, almeria)

check on KoS or l*ngsat what stations are available on what transponder

reception of these channels from this satelliteposition is highly unlikely in the usa with standard dishes.
Think you have to look for individual channels that maybe are carried by other providers?

Some more info for you. My father in law lived in Estepa, (this is South of Sevilla) for 3 years and only came back to the UK last year. While he was there he had everything from 28.0e including Astra2d on a 110cm dish. Dish was fitted by a English outfit out there.

I also visited his friends while I was there, they lived in a place called Coin near Malaga.
They also had a 110cm dish with a Televes LNBF and received Astra2d too.

I read somewhere a while back about a guy in Brazil who built a 8mtr dish to receive Germany channels from 19.2e.
