Bebi says it's cool, no need for a fan but of course - draft could only be beneficial to it.... ;)

You don't need a temperature guage.

I noticed just by touch how hot some parts of the tuner gets.

Looks like that tuner IC might need a glue on heatsink.

removing second tuner cover may help to reduce the temp.

General rule anything over 65 needs looking at

Hello,

Why let you think that there is overheating problem in the Azbox when there is not.

Does anybody already report overheating problem with Azbox?

Please don't let people think that Azbox HD is a toaster like DM800HD is. :001_302:

Please don't let people think that Azbox HD is a toaster like DM800HD is. :001_302:

Who said that? Where? How?

Other than you being over-sensitive, of course... :D:beatdeadhorse5:

This is re. the Elite model, which has the built in power supply and which, at times, gets quite hot, although I haven't seen it too hot to handle, as it were...

But, as someone said, if it gets over 65 or so - better safe than sorry....

Bebi said it's OK as it is, that it needs nothing, btw... So, the originator of it all says he isn't concerned. He has an Elite model.

But he also says that it feels much better to touch it and feel it cold... I'd go with him on this one... I want my baby to last and last...:coolgleamA:

Btw, it was Bebi who measured properly the DB800 temperature and reported it - again, properly!!!! He said that it's wrong to have those temperatures in DB800, that there is a design flaw etc.

You can check it out on this forum, in DB section, where I put it, like I put this one here...

Now, can you see the difference?:coolgleamA:

Hello Goran,

I know how people react when reading thread and seing pictures of cooling down mod ("Elite tuning"). :)

That's why I want to clarify things, I am not over-sensitive, I am just realistic and say that today we never encountered overheating problem with Azbox HD.

OK...

So, is my clarification now OK by you?

[Btw, I wouldn't necessarily suspect people's judgement like this, as if they can't see what's actually being said here... I mean, he clearly stated there is no problem... but that it's "better safe than sorry", so because it's very cheap and easy.... "why not..." Fair, isn't it?]

If the right quality components are used then there should be no problems. I must admit when i got the ellite I make sure its sitting on top with air vents open, cos I know that the components will last longer. I did have it sandwiched getting very hot as other stuff was putting out lots of heat and I can report there were no problems at all. The rule of thunb for temps was devised to get away from needing a "hot" warning on components. PC equipement now runs about 20Deg more then a few years ago. Electricals follow the same now I expect.

I've got Elite Turned on 8am yesterday and it's 1am still On and room temp around 30 degree ,elite sits on top of the Amp which creates extra heath :D for the MAX Harrasment But still no sign of excessive Heath ;)
You don't need any Fan, removing Top cover etc.
some people likes this type of Modding thats what it is ;)
Is there any pics of 800 hd in a different Case?
I may go for 500HD but unfortunately case again like 800hd Really tiny :(
P.s Graphics card of my pc; 9800 GX2 Hits nearly 100C degree on game play LOL

goran

iko, have you measured it with anything more sensitive than your hand?:p

iko

@goran
as we all know 800 lockes itself because of overheath so as long as Heath not effect my viewing pleasure I don't care about exact measurement ;)
I've told you my graphics card hits 100c degree still works ok :D
so nothing to worry about ;) If anyone likes case modding etc. Can add fan even water cooling Lol
but as you also know we don't need to do that ....

Are you very young, by any chance, iko, m8? :D You know, there's such a thing as "longer term" thinking, too... ;) :)

I would like this baby to last... Hence the prevention...

I am young Goran only 30 :D
As I told you, that's personal preferences go for it then ;)
I need a good reason to buy the new model on the long term such as broken elite :D
that's another bad effect of the DM on our psychology don't worry Azbox is Rock Solid :)
cheers mate
thanx for the pics...
P.s Married people can understand me :(

goran

I am married... [booo-hoooo :D]

But of course: you're a spring chicken and as such you will still have to learn how to think ahead... Lucky you, at the moment you have no serious worry in the world, hehe... ;) 'cept the wife, of course... :D

I don't like to change my stuff very often, if I can help it, you see... And I can help it. And that's exactly it! I want to help it, not "abuse it", as you do, hehe... :D [Just a joke - I am environmentally friendly, hehe... :D]
