I am thinking of buying a media player that i can connect to my TM5400ci. As well as storing loads of media via the pc, i will want to record satellite programmes to the hard drive instead of using a USB stick.
Does anyone know if i can link my receiver to a media player? If so, can you recommend a decent media player for what i require?

Definitly test the combination before you buy! If you can access the media player over the USB port and it is recognised as a hard disc (fat32 formatted is required, if the hard disc is over 30GB it has to be formatted with one of these utilities:
Fat32format 1.05 & Win GUI fat32format 1.0.1.0 (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=111179)

My external powerd USB WD hard disc My Book, home edition 500 GB is recognised on TM-6900 HD combo Super. On TM-5300D+ USB Super this hard disc is not recognised!

Thanks for your help Giga. I don't know how i can test one without buying one first? I suppose i will have to go out and buy one and just hope that it works. The media player that i am interested in has 1TB of memory but a friend of mine recently bought a 500GB HDD but could not get it to work on his TM6900.

other issue could be the .trp files or converted files to .ts to play on the media player you have your eyes on. Take a usb stick with recordings with you to test. Good luck anyway with the purchase.
