Been looking at this section with renewed interest having just acquired a tom tom go 530 GPS v1.20 map v8000, my question is would it be ok to use a patched ver with this unit and if I run into problems could I revert back to my backup ver, looking forward to a reply from guru Russell.

Don't need a patched version as your Tomtom will have all the features such as IQ routes, ALG etc.. Use Tomtom Home & update your navcore (tomtom software) then patch it yourself. Can then add the latest map - v830.2305 which will need activating & can also add the v901 postcode files.
Albert's activation tool will patch your Tomtom & activate the map & can also be used to patch Tomtom Home which will allow you to get the mapshare updates from Tomtom. All info, help & links are in the guide I've posted & the maps are in a new thread in this section.
And yes you can revert back to your back up copy if required.

All updated with latest map/post codes & cameras.
Seems ok so far not had it out for a test yet, did a demo run and seems ok.
Thanks Russell & special thanks to Albert for the activation tool:king-042:

Don't forget - you can patch Tomtom Home & then use it to get the latest mapshare updates :)
