View Full Version : setting up IRTE 1.2m prime focus.

having trouble getting my dish elevation as i,m using a polarmount,and to set my dish elevation theres a threaded bar on my polarmount thats adjusted up and down by opening 2 nuts.

its the threaded bar that is getting to me as theres no marking indication to tell you your elevation,i have added 2 pictures from the dish manual to give you a idea.

my latitude:52.860 north
my longtitude: -7.167 west
location southeast ireland.

1 picture is the dish elavation,and the other picture is the dish declination,any ideas on the threaded bar elevation adjustment?.

forgot to say i,m using a moteck v-box2 to move the dish,and receiver is a technomate 1500ci.

Acording to you graph, X =115mm (from the botom of the threaded bar to the top of nut 32) that should give you your elevation.

thanks satcat,any idea what my dish declination would be?,the 2nd pic above shows dish declination setup from manual.

It looks like it is approx 7. angle J (it's shown as 5 at the moment).

should i set up on 8.west for due south for my location -7.167w

also when i set up 115mm on threaded bar for polarmount elevation,could,nt i find my dish declination by adjusting the the dish up and down till i get bang on 8.w?

I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there with more expertise on setting up dishes than me, but in my opinion yes if you aim it at Telecom 2D 8W then just nudge it East a little and call that South, it should be near enough. Then fine tune. (If you can pick up anything on Nilesat 7W that would be the ideal South for you)

i doubt it very much in picking anything up from 7.w here.

so i set her up on 8.west then move her slightly back east,than should be my due south?.

indeed satcat the weather is miserable here in southeast ireland,so much for summer eh.

am waiting or more like hoping for a dry sunny day here to go setting up the dish.
