yeah just checked, ive slagged this reciever off in the past, but i would definately say now ive had my moneys worth.
the thing is when i bought it after about 2 weeks the lot went off, and for a few months, but it got back up and running and i had a good six months.
Its had a few problems recently, but as come back without any freezing issues.
cheers dr paulos and the rest of the protek team

Hi, I too have a protec 9600ip.
it has been in the box for the last 12 months, since the server went pear shaped.
what do i need to do now to get it up and running again.
ie: new software etc.
and what is available? any sign of showtime again?
thanks in advance

This is the 3rd time it has been down for a few hours since x57 was released. They are most probably 'tweaking' the system to prevent/improve problems.
If it has been down for 24 hours.....that'll be the time to worry ;)

It is probably best if your question is not answered in the open forum, as I believe open discussion about available packages is what caused all the problems last year and again this year.
Maybe somebody can PM you the information.

My friend has one, he updates it via the internet. If there's a new update from (say) 12a to 12b he just changes a setting using the on screen display to edit 12a to 12b & the box updates., obviously it's connected to his router.
nice to see an update has come...on which satellite will be the best place to watch the footy on using these boxes??

can this receiver be updated by usb
ALAN 1
03-09-2009, 10:44 AM
No update by usb, use the remotes red button or through rs232, very easy to use, worth getting one just brill.
will the new key stop the freezing?
drpaulos
03-09-2009, 01:06 PM
The new key is to fix the Kaka changes, no change for German channels.
Key19 does the following: - K19 brings back the seven lost channels on TV KAKA 30W - you can either delete the channels on 30 west, or just do a rescan
ALAN 1
03-09-2009, 01:57 PM
Do not wait for any update , Just change key 18, to k19, and just use red button, this will bring back TV cabo minus one Nat/geo.

no rs232 on laptops these days have tried converters in the past work on some receivers not on others

Use a Lan cable direct to receiver if possible.

Hi alan, for 7w how wide is your garden big i hope, needs a big big dish mate.
You can get a HD box but only works with emu, cams cards.
But with the protex9600ip with pvr, also has emu, will get you all the footy you want, plus loads of packages on all the well known sats, it blow your mind mate, and its all FREE. dont know anything about echolink. pm me for more info.
