My trusty Echostar has just packed up so I have decided to get a Technomate 6900. My dish does not track the arc properly so I need an installer out to make the most of the new receiver. While he is here should I get him to take off the 8 year old Jaeger silent gold 36v motor and install a diseqc motor or should I stick with the 36v motor and get a vbox. I have a 1 metre dish (Lenson Heath I think) on a pole looking over the roof of the house.

Thanks

I'm still using the same motor as you and the V-Box works fine with it, but it's up to you, you might want to modernise a bit, although mine still works well after over 10 years!

Hi
Best to keep your motor and get a v box .
You could ask your installer for his advice

Keep the 36volt motor M8...the diseqc motor are slower and can be problematic, although I believe they have improved since they first came out.

I had problems with my 36volt motor at the beginning of this year and just changed the reed sensor now it is spot on...I use it with a Gbox and a Technomate 6900 super.

My Echostar 3600ip is redundant and gathering dust because it is dated compared with the user menu of the Technomate.
Best Regard, James.

Again, as others have said - Keep your 36volt system. I bought mine in 1994, along with a Drake Sat receiver. After 2 house moves and 3 different Receivers, it is still working well - now with a Technomate 6900 HD, and has only cost me 2 new reed relays plus an annual grease & Oil service. Have so far replaced my neighbours Diseqc motor twice - both still under gaurantee.

of course you could always use the echostar as a stand alone positioner:woohoo-022:

i have a dreambox and i use a pace mps 200r as a stand alone positioner
did have a v- box but it was the mark 1
that went wrong so used the pace now for quite a while with no problems:respect-050:

I would also keep the 36v motor.
Got myself a V-box last week as my Strong SRT 1500 analogue receiver positioner finally bit the dust.
V-box connected to TM1500CI+ and drives the 1.3 M dish perfectly.
