Hello all,
Attempted to update the firmware for the very first time today, so decided to do it via the net!
Should be pretty straight forward huh!
Well my newbie novice question is, when the firmware is updating, should it tell me it's doing so?
It downloaded the firmware, came up with a message saying 'updating'.... and now my TV has gone to a black screen with a message saying 'no signal'.... it's been like this for about 15minutes, is this normal?
Not sure if i should try rebooting it, or if it's got stuck, or if it's just updating?
The LCD display says 'Settings'...
Any help would be mostly appreciated,
Thanks,

Not a good response.
Something went wrong.
Download the update and put it into an USB pen and put that in the box, then restart and update again this time from the usb.
never update straight from internet, to many things can go wrong with this method. Download to computer then to box over usb stick, be sure to have an emergency procedure like a forced firmware update with serial port and null-modem cable. Test the null-modem between computer and your STB box.

??? Serial Port and Null Modem Cable...AZbox doesnt use these for update
Put the patch.bin on a USB key, put in the USB port, reboot the box and follow the instructions.
That said upgrading from internet on the box usually works fine

Never had any problems thro the internet, some upgrades however can change the screen res, so press that first to see if you get a picture.

Me neither.
In fact updating from internet is probably the safest way to update.

I ended up leaving it for about 45minutes, it never recovered... tried pressing all keys on remote and got nothing, had to reboot, was still on the previous firmware!
Will give the USB update a go tomorrow! :respect-057:

sorry only recover procedure by ethernet if ip address is known of AZBox or last resort by jtag. no forced upload by serial port.

Don't worry I get the exact same problem what it is. When I update it wipes the Audio Visual setting you have set so defaults back to Svideo. So just use the yellow connection from the box into the yellow connection on your tv.
Switch TV then to svideo or your equivelant.
Then switch the video back hdmi

What it was erased was the sat settings, this is why you get the "no signal" message.
Just go into antenna settings and correct this, nothing else is the problem.

If you Azbox went to the complete update procedure via the Internet you should have see it on the front panel of your Azbox.
Settings means that your Azbox return to the settings screen but you get no picture because the video output is wrongly configured.
Press the remote control: Resolution button do you have the world <composite> on the front panel of the Azbox?
If Yes then your Azbox is updated!
Use the arrow to select the video connection you have:
<composite><componant><scart><hdmi>
Then press OK to select the right output type <pal><ntsc>
And select your screen resolution.
You will see the image appearing on your TV!
If you don't have the word <composite> press the resolution button and wait if no image press again resolution, you should have an image that will appears. But let the time to your TV to detect the signal, so press resolution and wait!

Thanks buddy!
I took the advice of everyone and did a USB upgrade, i thought whist i was there, i'd just wipe the whole thing and start again. So i followed Gorans guide and did it step by step....
I've just finished installing the patch.bin from the USB, which was a success! Now i'm trying to boot the box to do a factory reset....
Although, it's stuck on boot!!! Get a black screen with a white 'Azbox' logo, nothing on the LCD display, and it's just hung here...
Anyone think my box is now shafted? Tis a pain in the arse! Just getting nothing but hassle from this box...
