Hi, need to replace my current 1 metre dish as its rusting away, have been looking at 1m orbital aluminium dish or Triax 1.1m dish.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers

I recently replaced my 1metre Steel Orbital dish with a Gilbertini 1metre Aluminium dish.

Really impressed with my Gibi,a good dish with plenty of gain and nice and steady in the winds on the North Cornwall Coast.

I recently purchaced and installed a 1m orbital aluminium dish, very light dish. Very impressed.
The size of the orbital 1m dish is the same as a Triax 1.1m, they just measure them differently (triax vertically - orbital horizontally)

Try the Gregoriaan 0.9 (Fibo) with sub reflextor in front the best.

size matters, buy the 1.1 triax.... and you wont be asking question about 0.1 lmb's.. :-) and there cheap..

size matters

Indeed it does..

But some times the smaller size works better

Traix 1.1 Gain at 11.7GHz): 40.2dBi = 38dB

Orbital 1.0 Gain at 11.75GHz 40.5db

The Gregoriaan got this already by 90cm dish

Gian at 11.7Ghz (dB) 40.0

so bigger won't say better.

The thing about the Fibo/gregorian is that you cannot just walse into any old satellite related shop and pick one up. They are not that easily available. Let just say that most local shops do not carry them lol.

As for size matters...well that is generally true. Another truth is that design, formula and production quality also matters.

Eugenie

If you take a good look you still can buy them on Web (€bay) it takes only some more time, in the UK and in the Netherlands no problem that count also for the Grego 1.2 look at my aventar.

In Germany you can buy the New Grego's 0,5 & 0.9 they are just a little bit more expensive then the ordinary one but the dish pay you back.

Sure Glenn, one can still get these dishes...just saying that they are nowhere near as commonly available as for ex Triax or Orbital dishes. That´s why most people (if they can fit a sligthy larger dish(even though the Fibo 0.9 meassures 90x99cm [right?] compared to the Triax 1.1m meassuring 100x105 cm and the Gibertini 1m meassuring 97x104cm )) will simply go down to their local shop and get a Triax or something. Less hassle and certainly less money. The Fibo/gregorian dishes are a slice of heaven though.

A general note; Quoted meassurements are the outer limits, not the effective surface which is slightly smaller.

You wont regret buying the Gibi mate.

A really good lightweight dish that will give you good gain,I use my Gibi 1metre dish with a 0.3 Sharp Lnb and they work really well together.

Enjoy
