Advice needed please...

I have just set up my HDD and recording my first programme (neighbours for my wife on Astra28e, channel Fiver). However I am unable to view any other programme other than other programmes on Fiver or Fiver +1. All other channels are greyed out and says "no free tuner!"

I thought I could still view other channels via the 2nd tuner, on the same satellite?

puzzled!

What are your tuner settings?

What are your tuner settings?

both tuners have their own individual feeds. Dual LNB on the motorized dish with Tune A controlling the movemen of the dish.

What else do you need to know?

So your tuner A is set to motor and Tuner B is set to return from motor?

I think so.

Ok, jut seen old farts thread about tuner configuration and just been into my set-up...

Tuner A: BCM4501 (internal) (DVB-
positioner:USALS

Tuner B: BCM4501 (internal) (DVB-
nothing connected

... however the cable is plugged in properly at the back of the DM.

Is there anything in the set up menu about tuner config?

Can you actually watch anything on the 2nd tuner?

You need to plug the second cable from the LNB into tuner B turn it on (in tuner configuration i think its called return from motor or something, Im in work so cannot check what the proper name is).

Configure Tuner B for 28E as shown here -

Tuner B should be - "second cable of motorized LNB" in tuner configuration

Oh ok!!

What's the difference to what I have done for now:

What I did earlier was change the Tuner B to be "equal to Tuner A"

and that seems to have worked.

As a test, I recorded something else and viewed another programme on same satellite and it worked ok. Had some problems stopping the recording though as it carried on even when I told it to stop!

Then i went to play Neighbours for the Mrs and the screen was just black.
Eventually the DM crashed and said it was restartimg itself after 15 Mina of trying to play the programme ... Then it was fine.

A little too late though, as the wife is getting very annoyed with the whole set up and has no patience for it. I just hope it all starts to work flawlessly... I said to her it's just some teething problems, minor ones, as we get to grips with the new system.

Ah yes, forgot about that bit. Of course Xstyle will be moving around onto other satellites. My setup uses an additional fixed dish on 28E to Tuner B.

If Tuner B is equal to A it would be the same settings, so in your case your receiver would think it had 2 motors.

Tuner B as Second LNB as you suggested earlier does not work. All other channels are greyed out. So "b = a" seems to be the best option"?

I just tried recording 2 programmes, and got the error again when I stop recording!! I stop them, but then whichever channel I turn to, if it's nit greyed out, still flashes up with the "record" icon flashing up all the time, and the blue power button flashing on the front panel.

Pressing STOP does nothing.
I can't change channel either as it says "no free tuner available"

... Surely I am doing something wrong???

ok, so watched the recorded programme and it ended before the actual programme finished; despite looking at the end time of the programme and setting the proper time. Will just have to set longer duration in future.

So after it ended we browsed a few other channels, all ok, then browsed to see what was on Sky Italia, and nothing... Back to Astra28e and the tune keeps failing. Black screen can't see a thing!
It doesn't matter what channel I go to...

Restarted the DM... and now it's all ok.

Can someone please tell me why I am having these problems after using the HDD?

If you go to
Setup>system>Customize and change setup mode to expert you can change the record margins and also the behavior when watching and stopping movies and alot more.

Regards to your tuner i haven't a clue as i dont have a second cable on my motor setup.

I would also try and change your tuner A settings to advanced and setup each satellite individually to see if it helps.

Also when trying to stop recordings you are pressing the record button again and selecting stop?

no, just press stop, and I think it comes up with a message asking me if I want to exit, and deletion options.

Right... So haven't watched any tele for about a week. Wife has, recorded her a few programmes via TIMER in the menu as I couldn't see any programmes on the useless EPG! They played ok.

Today, I have used the Timer option a few times to create repeat events. Upon exit I could view Astra28e channels only as all other satellites failed.
So I restarted Enigma2 from the menu...
It was fine initially, viewed some other satellites, but going back to Astra28e it said "tune failed"!!
So then did a "restart" and it has been sat on the Nabilosat HD logo for about an hour doing nothing and pressing any remote buttons doesn't do anything. Should I press the on/off button on front??

frustrated!!

I'd unplug at back and reboot that way mate.

I was wary ofdoing that ... The front power button worked (not the master on/off at back)

I know I will have same problem next time I exit the PVR menu....

Iv tested the timer record and you cannot stop timed recordings without them being deleted, you can only stop manual recordings.

Have you tried changing your tuner settings to advanced and setup all the satellite individually?

Regards to your epg what program are you using?

Try: sequence repeat yes.

Also do you want to use usals or manually tune each satellite?

thanks alot quailman that working a treat now.
i am manually tuning my satellites i dont use usuals to move dish .
another question for you what do iset tuner b to and what setting pls so i can watch 1 channel and record another on any satellite without having to change anything each time i do

If your using just a motor then it should be second cable from motorized LNB
