AZBox Needs and Open EPG API

I have come to the conclusion that the AZBox needs an API for the EPG so that plugin programmers can develop EPG population tools.

I imagine this should fairly simple for the Opensat programmers. This way Opensat will not be piggybacking the Sky, MHW or Freesat EPGs and avoiding any legal concerns. It will be the plugin developers that then develop EPG population/synchronisation apps like there are for the Enigma2 e.g. CrossEPG. Also, via plugin we can pick and choose what EPG's we want.

The current EPG is useless for UK and Ireland without something like this and for me this is the AZBox's biggest functional weakness.

At this point an ip based solution like something feeding from Radio Times would be acceptable as in current form its less than useless for recording and planning.

If this isnt going to be on the roadmap then I would like to see what is more important than it? Dual Tuner recording is useless without a working EPG.

The whole EPG isnt perfect, also not the Menue.
Hope they will listen to the User and do something for it with Internet EPG

All thats needed is a method to access the TS Stream with filters. Also the EPG file system.

These will come with time.

They have the code and its on the list of things to do.

Have you tried the channels that broadcast MHW?

I have just put my box on fun4.tv and its pulled in some epg for cyfra. This could be EIT EPG, I will take a look into it.

sky german epg all there after 1min on any transponder

on Greek channels (Nova ) its working but only in English lang not in Greek
