What is interesting is that almost all shops in europe the DM8000 is sold out and have a very long delivery time.

I have been thinking of this alot and started to beleive that DMM is doing this consciuosly to have continous demand in the market.

They only make a few boxes to keep the demand higher to keep the price at high level.

What do you think?

I had no problem buying one just 2 weeks ago...

The usual German stockists have them.

If there is a problem in the UK it is likely to be under-ordering by the nominated importer.

Maybe the uk importer does not want to sit on a lot of stock.
they are not cheap, and that means they will sell some, but the market for linux, hd , top price will be small in the uk. You can now get cheap hd box's for about £100, good for about £300 or less, or this for £900+ when you start to add tuners
Would you risk holding large stock in the current climate with the knowledge that they have a cheaper box 800 and will soon offer one even cheaper 500?

Not many in the UK are going to pay that kind of price, and even if i could afford it,i wouldn't buy it.
Sheer greed, that's a bigger rip off than microsoft.

Happy with my IPBO***00HD for a third of the price . I still have Dreambox unit but the 8000 is just well over priced .

Probably why so many are buying clones.

Probably why so many are buying clones.

when you can get a clone dm800 for £170 it makes you wonder just how much it actually costs to make a box. A genuine dm800 should be no more than £250 :(

Yes but buying a clone could cost you more than £170 I know of one that caught fire after 2 days!

Do you have any pictures, or proper proof of that, as being a reseller of official DMM boxes, some might think you had an interest in spreading FUD about clones ;)

To be honest, I've read as many reports of failures on official DM's as I have about clones, what's your returns rate JJ?

Crikey if dreamboxes were made with quality components perhaps peeps would stay clear of clones

I mean the orig dreamboxes started out with crap tuners and nic cards they scrimped on capacitors the power supply's have issues

So whats the point in buying an orig at twice the price I still have 500s clones running like a dream after 3 years our local community of CS'rs all have clones and they are working great and only cost £90 new 3 years ago

Oh and by the way did I mention I have a duff genuine 7020s which I paid 330 quid for when new yes Duff the network card issue needs a solder mod lets face it they are not much use woithout the nic are they?

So my advice is buy a clone because you as likley to have as much trouble with the genuine boxes as you are with clones

In my opinion, the cloned dm500 were often better than the genuine dm500, and the clone dm800 seems to have better cooling than the genuine box (fan on cpu).

What's the lowest price DM8k ever had?

Right now it's 849 euro in Germany from a shop, and the dealer price is 675 euro plus German VAT 17.5% which makes it 803 euro, the dealers make a profit right now of about 50 euro in each sale.

So the next price drop will be when distributors lower the price from 675 euros ex VAT whenever that will happen.

The lowest price was around £750 to original Beta Testers. (899 Euros)

It included 500GB HDD and WiFi card though.

German VAT is 19% not 17.5% this is UK VAT rate, 50 Euro profit is nothing when the receiver is so expensive, plus you have to build in costs for faulty units. To be honest its not worth selling it.

I seriously doubt that the mark-up is only 50 Euros...

On AZbox HD price is much more than that!

So, no way!

joshjess

No that is correct. Some items such as the Topfield 2100 is more but Dream are not that generous. If only the AzBox was 50 Euro!!!!

To be honest its not worth selling it.

Talk to DMM about that, it's their problem, the whole sat business is like that, tiny marginals, not worth it today.

Well i have account with one of the largest distributors in Germany and the dealer price is 675,00 euro ex. VAT today.

Maybe you can buy from some cheaper distributor but i doubt that as all follow the same price.

I can't buy from them as i have not any registered company anymore.

I don't have any reason to prove anything to you in a public forum.

If you can buy cheaper which i doubt good luck with sales as you will need it.
