Itv hd vs bbc hd

Hi all, just watching eng vs croatia on itv hd and along with everything else on itv hd it aint a patch on bbc hd as far as quality goes IMO. Is it me or is this the case and if so why?????.

Disagree, itv 1 to 2 progs a day if your lucky(sometimes none at all), bbc late afternoon till late evening everyday, however agreed on the formula 1. Can anybody elaborate on my first post please?

I think the problem with F1 in HD is not down to the BBC. Bernie's mob provide the feed and there is only an SD format available (at the moment). Any F1 on HD channels is upscaled (including the F1 in cinema last season).

I thought the the itv hd tonight was ok. but still not as sharp as s*y or bbc. I always feel itv are trying to do it on the cheep.

F1 is broadcast in HD and not upscaled to italian and german tv providers
So bbc should not have a problem acquiring the feed.

F1 has always been upscaled for the Germans.

The only real HD maybe from the local TV reporters, but the FIA feeds are all upscaled 720p.

BBC HD picture quality varies depending on program source, sometimes very poor, other times quite good.

ITV HD has been very good recently.

Both ITV and BBC have reduced their bit rate (I think) they are getting a lot of stick for it. Apparently its becasue they are going to have their own transponder and share it with CH4 and CH5 HD (4 channels)

In MY opinion ITV coverage doesnt hold a candle to BBC's!

BBC are on a new piece of kit with lower bit rates at times.
Plenty to read on the bbc.hd blogsite.Not many happy people on there.
Quality on both channels,has in the main worsened.

Have either of them ever transmitted at full 1920x1080 resolution, in which case surely they are worse quality than channels which do?

itv hd is 960x1080i bbchd is 1440x1080i a huge hit in vertical res. ITVHD should either up the res or pack up. its not hd, they would be better off going 1280x720p 60fps, at least the footy would then look nice and smooth

Yes, seems to be the same with the UK Footy.

It only gets shown in HD in Europe if the UK provider (Sly / Espn) are also
showing the match in HD to UK customers.

Also have to agree that the BBC HD is far better Picture quality compared
with ITV HD.

Some of the nature / country type programmes give
excellent pictures.
