View Full Version : TM-6900 SUPER Plus Newbie
Hey All
I have deciced to replace my Echostar AD3000IP Via Reciver & 80cm 36V Actuator Dish, Invacom 0.3db LNB with the Following I Ordered Last Night...
Technomate TM-6900 SUPER Plus
1.0m Orbital Dish
Technomate TM-2300 Diseqc Motor
0.1dB Titanium LNB
Should be turning up early next week!
First of all, is there a pdf manual available for this receiver I can download anywhere? I could not see it on the Technomate Site and what to have a read a familarise myself with it while waiting for it to turn up.
I can see the latest firmware for it is ver 688 (14th Aug 2009) & have noticed there is patched firmware for this receiver, whats the benefits of this? I already have a Diablo Cam.
Can you view all the Free HD Channels with this receiver with the official firmware?
I already have a Western Digital 1TB My Book Essential USB External Hard Drive, which i can hopefully use (once FAT32 formatted) but can you record one channel and watch another? providing you don't switch to another satellite or freeview.
Does the patched firmware contain keys? or is this still all dealt with the Diablo Cam Menu?
Better not ask too many questions in one go, this is a big upgrade jump, so have got alot to learn!

Does the patched firmware contain keys? no, these are in softcam, some are only opend by diablo, would try without diablo (faster) and see if anything else would be needed to open by diablo?
Giga,
Thanks alot the the info...
I received everything today except for the Dish as they only had the Steel ones in stock, so am waiting for an Aluminum one. Also they sent me the newer TM2600 Diseq Motor with Metal Gears.
Looking at the manual and the suppliers instructions, the supplier is telling me to set it up as Diseq 1.2, is this correct or should I be using USUALS?
Regarding Elevation when installing the Dish, All the satellites have different Elevation Angles, what Elevation should you set the dish at? There are sites that tell you the Elevation for each satellite, but if you want to pick everything from say, Turks@t to Hispasat, what should you base your dish Elevation on?
Regards
Phil
USALS is a simplified way for installing and automated calculation of orbital and geostationary orbit satellites. I would go with the advice of the supplier? They should know best? Follow mounting instructions provided by supplier for your latitude. When set up correctly, the elevation should be taken care of by the mounted motor. This is how I understand this. If there are issues with this understanding, other users will surely point this out. (don't have motorized setup, only multifeed)

I use USALS - but as you say, it is a matter of choice dependent on personal cir***stances!:respect-055:
Ok, so I have found out that USALS calculates the positions of all the satellites based on a single reference point (your geographical position point).
On some websites maps I can put the point exactly of the wall of my house where my dish will be, but the elevation is different depending on what satellite you have selected. When installing a new dish, if you want to pick from Turks@t to Hispas@t, what do you set your elevation as? or what do you use as a reference point? as you want it to follow the arc but the satellites are at slightly different elevations. For example do you base your elevation on a central satellite, thor 1w maybe? whats the best way of doing this?

Hi phil
If you look up the correct location there will be a recommended sat to set up on for the elevation. While this may need tweaking in the final tighten down the arc should accommodate the basic change in elevation as it moves round. ie - here in devon I set up to 1w - almost direct south and as the dish travels E/w angle on the lnb and the elevation are handled by the arc - just final tweaking may be needed as i said. Sometimes the lnb mmay benefit for signal strength by small rotation L/R good luck - Brain

the technomate manual itself for the stb is pretty useless in my opinion - but the actual TM stb is a fantastic easy to use piece of kit once you have a go at simply experimenting and applying 'logic'
