I have noticed that the softcams which are available for download do not include all BISS keys. Is there any SoftCam editor for the 6000 series which supports BISS Key entry ?

these have to be entered with the remote. you can test this yourself: upload a key file to the 6000 series with BISS keys, and save it back to the USB memory stick. The BISS keys are not in that file. The uploaded file does not change the BISS keys in the technomate.

So this means that the BISS keys that I have in the receiver came with the firmware patch and not with any keybin, right?

Do think so, most are very short lived. You only have 40 allocations.

Just clicked on that link and saw your tutorial. At this point, I have one question: Since the BISS keys are always 8 digit long and each line in the BISS menu has space for 16 digits, are the first (or last?) 8 digits used by the emu to identify the channels (SID, PMT, PCR, etc...) ?

BISS can have 8 or 16 hex double digit values, when you have only 8 you use only 1st part of the field and 0 out the remaining 8.
You have only 40 fields. so it is best to keep track what field you used for what channel(s).
Identifying the channel is done by viewing the channel. Select first the channel where you have the key for. switch to biss menu 8 2 8 0 select a unused field and enter the key and exit if channel opens you have a good key. If not check for typo's. If multiple channels use the same key. View each channel, 8 2 8 0 and select the correct field with key used for the other channel.

Direct Control Word can also be used in the BISS field.
