Can the TM6900HD Combo owners help me....

I am considering buying a TM6900HD to replace my Echostar AD3000IP with 36v /5a actuator H-H mount Motorized system - Universal LNB.

Question...can I just replace my old receiver with this one or do I have to buy a Stand alone Positioner, if so which one is recomended and do I have to buy special cables.

Note..... the Echostar AD3000IP has a dedicated Internal positioner as part of the receiver...the Technomate specifications says it has Auto navigation system select as many satellites as you want to search but it shows no cable connections at the rear ?:001_07:

Surely thats just YOUR opinion mate?
Many of us would SWEAR by our beautiful TM's?
I used to have an Echostar 3000ID (?) - then a Manhattan ST350 - then TM6900HD - then my current TM6900HD Super, which to me at least is the best of them all!:respect-057:

you could always keep your echostar and use it as a stand alone positioner if that part of the receiver is ok :respect-048:

when i discarded my echostar i got a dreambox
i used a v-box which was not very reliable and eventually broke down
i had a pace msp 200 stand alone positioner and tried that had no problems since about 3 years now.:respect-067:

Grayman - i replaced my trusty old echo 3600 with a technomate 6900 super hd combo & v box - plus an external hard drive for recording to. What a fantastic piece of kit the techno 6900 is

imho - echos were good in their day - had a 3000 then 3600

i did have an esta3600ip, the first one had a software prob, the second one lasted six months b4 the power unit caught light, so ur opinion is zero, the best box by far is the samsung, had mine 6 years without a single hitch, the tm i have, has got the worst cam slots of any box, a really poorly made box, ask tm, how many there getting back at the moment ,then ull b qualified to tell me where im talking from mate,.

I agree entirely with drahcirk with reference to the Cam Slots, otherwise a great receiver.

I dont know why you people say that echostar is a bad receiver, which i think it is very wrong,i had echostar for many years and i never found any problems I started with the ordinary 3000Ip and up to the 7000/via which i still got,not offending any one i found the picture quality on my 7000/via it is better of the technomate, unfortunately i find technomate has to many bugs if cured would be a good receiver maybe one day
Giga my friend tnx for help
and just to finish Echostar never has been a piece of junk made in china, the company was for many years from the netherland, with a good reputacion

some of the e/star boxes were made in germany, i think they were the poorly made ones, and the t/mates are made in china, cheaply,.

wouldnt buy another tm...
Nor me.

Surely thats just YOUR opinion mate?

Mine too.

Many of us would SWEAR by our beautiful TM's?
Not me. Nor would I describe the big grey lump as beautiful.

What a fantastic piece of kit the techno 6900 is ...
Are we using the same unit? It essentially works, but I wouldn't say it's anything approaching fantastic.

maybe some people more heavy handed? ...
Assuming you don't mean physically breaking the receiver, I assume you mean 'some people expect everything provided to work properly'.

a really poorly made box, ask tm, how many there getting back at the moment...
I agree it lacks a solid build, both physically and in terms of firmware.
I should have reported and returned mine as 'unfit for purpose' shortly after I got it, rather than being a mug and waiting for a magical firmware upgrade to fix the bugs.

I agree.

I agree.

The software has always been 'ok'. It's just not getting significantly better or how it should be.

The bottom line seems to me; if you're not distracted by illicit bonuses such as CS, which I do not undertake, then you clearly notice the flaws when using the unit fully.
I suspect however that the manufacturers do not care for improving little bugs, when they can invest time in churning out 'the next big thing' in the knowledge that many users will only care about its capability to be used for CS.

interesting post - but compared to my echostars - my unit is fantastic - no problems as described by others

so speaking as i find - thumbs up from me for TM6900 super combo:respect-048:

my only gripe is the manual - garbage

cs don't interest me (so far) re my lack of net connection where tv is & my computer guru warns me off wifi - i work from home & he reckons it is too open to use wifi if i need my work to be 'private'

Hey Giga when i tried CS the picture was freezing every 5 seconds and was unwatchable. I got the impression from other users that the problem was the tm not the server. Do you know if the performance has improved with 702p?

Sorry, for now I'm no longer able to get C S in or out. I switched from ADSl to VDSL2. This VDSL2 modem/router has extended internet security: stateful packet inspection (SPI) and this system blocks the commucation in both newcamd and cccam.
message: First packet in connection is not a SYN packet
Still looking for a secure solution before I have a go at it. (C S) is nice but not a must for me.

I'm not sure on this: are you using:
filters (should use thes)
multiple server lines connected (limit these)
newcamd and cccam together (don't know if this works)

Maybe it's possible there have been batches of manufacturing, some better than others ... ?

Yes, the manual isn't much use if you want to actually understand what functions do and mean. It's quite generic.

Have 2 6900 HD Combo Super with 9 months difference. Label on the bottom of the receiver: 5420042313619
and if the bottom number on that label is the serialnumber:
TM6900H-808-000000 there is a difference of less then 150, so the same batch.
