As long as the dreambox can use diseqc it will work with vbox II. I use my vbox 2 to move my 36v motor 90cm gregorian dish with my dm800. I have the technomate vbox as it has an extra 5v thats needed for some motors. I also keep the vbox in the loft out of sight not that its ugly but creates more space in the living area.

how do you setup with vbox in the loft,is it a stupid question by me

Basically the VBox needs to be mounted inline on the coax somewhere between the rx and the motor, so it doesn't really matter where it is positioned relative to your dm8000, as long as there is a power supply nearby.

The VBox takes the diseqc signal from the coax and you connect the 36v motor power and control cables to it, as well as the coax input from the lnb. Once connected, you don't need to access it as it is controlled via the receiver.

thanks for your reply
sounds so simple when explained like that, it would be quite easy for me all my cables run across my loft and there his power sockets up there aswell

Simply run your motor and lnb cable from your dish to your vbox. Then route your cable from your dreambox receiver to the vbox output and run your cable down the guttering if possible more discrete. Obviously you will also need electric in your loft to power your vbox.

I iniatially had the vbox downstairs where I stored all the sat positions on the vbox. Hotbird for example I stored as number 13 and Astra as no. 19. When you setup diseqc on your dreambox you simply enter the sat positions you stored for each satellite. You can also try the usals method.

Usals works with a vbox? Doesn't Usals need diseqc 1.1, which is not supported on my vbox.

I had read that it didn't work at all... Have you tried it?

Yeah I tried but did not work for me. Theres a sticky in the dm800 section and a few have had success using diseqc 1.2. If I turn usals off and manually store sat positions it works fine. Also I am unable to move my dish through the positioner setup menu on the dreambox which is disappointing but as the sat positions are already fine tuned and all stored in the vbox its not a problem.
