Does anyone know why the Azbox premium will not record
files larger than 3 gigabytes. It breaks them up into different files.
I have the drive formatted in linux.

In my opinion this is stupid. FAT32 can handle max. 4 GB-files. So the minimum filesize should be 4 GB. And if I have Linux-partition, then the size should not be limited. Also it would be very nice if the box would handle ntfs.

it is a limitation from the old days: 2 GB limit. If the files are split and have this layout:
main.trp or main.ts with main.001, main.002, main.003 you can join the files together with TS-Doctor or change from .TRP to .TS.

Ok - limitation of old day. But the AZBoxHD down't have 2 GB. It has 3 GB-limitation. And I don't know any filetable using 3 GB limitation.
And so I think 3 GB is ****!

be happy it records and you can take recording to your computer. A lot of STB HD recorders don't have this possibility.

OK Giga.
I changed a hdd+dvd pioneer plus a tdt receiver plus a sat deco plus a multimedia hdd and their four commands by an AzBox Premium. Yes, I feel happy but....

If I want to make a DVD copy of a movie recorded on the internal hdd I must transfer some 3GB files to a computer, check the continuity between files, join them into a sole file and make the dvd.

This is not a dramatic job but it blocks the AzBox during the slow transfer and then requires my presence in front of the display for a long time.

Yes I love my AzBox but I think improving the record function would be a very good improvement and not so difficult to do.

SD recording of 3:25:00 = 7.1 GB, if it was HD would even been bigger.
One file or several files, the amount in GB you have to transfer stays the same.
Moving these files should be as easy on selecting these all have the same name, just from the second part the file extension changes to .001, 002, ...

I understand the wish for having one file, keep in mind the limitations of a receiver (file handling, ....) 1 hour recording = 2.08 GB, 24 hour recording = 49.87 GB.

I also find this 3 GB limitation quite irritating. If I remember correctly, it wasn't present in the older firmwares. Hopefully they will remove this limitation in the future firmwares.

Yes, FWs 2371 or 2372 did not have this limitation and worked very well.
So, I dont understand this stupid limitation, why is it needed suddenly?

I had to play each 3GB file seperately with this latest firmware but previous version it would play all of recording with a slight break between files.

Dreambox plays seamlessly, so why not Azbox?

Look as somebody read our words. Thank you.
The new AzBox 4GB file limit matches the Fat32 conditions and, as far I can understand, a detection of FAT32 or LINUX disk format is on the way to be entered to a new firmware.
Then the record file size would be extended to unlimited if a linux partition destination is detected.
If so we will have unlimited happiness.:respect-067:

Strange how the files are shown in the box 4 or 5 names starting with 0,1 and so on.
