AB Switch?

Hi there

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction regarding this?

I'm looking to connect my LNB to two output devices ie receiver and pc.

Is there something like the AB switch that can be used?

btw I have a twin output LNB, one end is already connect to a receiver.

no switch needed if one of your receivers has a loop-through. Or you take a second cable from the second lnb to the other receiver. Both could operate independent from each other. In the 1st case you could only operate on the same 1/4 part of the lnb (H/V, High/Low).

As Giga says, why don't you just add a separate cable from your twin output LNB to the second receiver.

In my experience splitting one cable to two receivers just annoys the user after a while as one receiver will dominate.

Thanks for the input guys, I had considered this, but this only works in the receiver is kept on standby for the 'loop-thru' to work.

I had hoped an independent switch would work without having to power anything up.

Hope that makes sense?

btw the receiver is next to the PC and I'm the sole user

would not go for an manual A/B switch, accidental switching with power on the sat cable could be bad for one of the receivers. (Arcing)

other solution could be just a splitter.
power should only flow from receiver to lnb and blocks the power from receiver to receiver
as you can see on the image: only power flow to LNB!
IN is from LNB
OUT x 2 is to receivers
DC is only allowed from receiver to LNB and not to other receiver!

Not had a problem myself with [ manual A/B switch ] You can Also get a [ IR DA SWITCH ] Does the same as [ A/B ] But iff you are Lazy? Like Myself[ Just Point any remote control ] At it , It changes[ Had mine for mega years ] Works a treat:respect-050:

think my solution is the most lazy and the cheapest. You only have to operate one of the receivers, last receiver used takes control of the LNB.

i have one of these splitters
and i intend to install a receiver in the bedroom

i was going to use the loopthrough from dreambox 7000s to receiver in bedroom
would it be better to use the loopthrough or to use the splitter?

If it is splitter that blocks the DC from receiver to receiver, that would be OK
Using the loop through could require to have the dreambox 7000s in standby.
If the loop through functions without power on the dreambox 7000s it would make no noticeable difference.

i usually leave the dreambox in standy anyway
but i think i would have to leave the dreambox on standby to use the loopthrough
