as you have disabled the network you can't make a connection!
[v] enable network
@wink:
go in to the menu, select:
System Settings
IP Settings
change DHCP Usage: ON
press on the remote: ●
if your router is set to DHCP on it should get an IP address
if that did not work:
got a cat5 and a crossover 1 [cat5 modded] so i have the 2 cables
check your cable: Ethernet crossover cable
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_crossover_cable

Hi,
I am having the same problem. I cannot get an IP address, red button does not work. I dont even know my IP address. If I did how can I put it in manually. I have a Netgear router . It has been suggested that it may be the problem. But I cant keep buying stuff just to see if it works. I think I should have bought a Dream Box. Please let me know if you solve anything.

can't find anything on netgear adapter wn611 v2
http://www.netgear.com/Products.aspx?for=All
first you have to setup the laptop to work with ethernet cable:
Install a wired network adapter
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/netadapter.mspx
then manually assign the IP address and subnet mask for that adapter:
Assigning TCP/IP Addresses
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa505921.aspx
you could use:
for laptop: 172.19.3.4
for TM-9100: 172.19.3.15
and both subnetmask: 255.255.0.0
gateway would not be used as this is a direct link.

If you can't setup your router, getting a dreambox would be a bad idea! What netgear router are you using?
Do you know how to:
access this router?
enable the DHCP in it?
set network security in it?
Normaly these come with a cd and have a manual on it?

if I were you I would stop messing about and buy a new router , much easier and the pc does not have to be on
as for networking via your laptop , its all a pc question , not a technomate question
clogs

Hi,
when you connect your cat5e cable from 9100 to your laptop go to network connections -> local area network -> properties -> tcp/ip -> properties and put in an IP address for the laptop hopefully you then have a connection to the 9100.
Then as karlpowell said go to your Netgear connection properties -> advanced -> allow other network users then see if you can download from 9100 via pc
cheers

always is on an edg image
my point regarding the pc issue is pcdudes forum is for pc issues , this forum is for techmomate 9100 issues
in other words this thread is on the wrong forum and would normally be closed , as its not a technomate issue
