Hi

I have a Tom TOM 910 and have not updated the maps for some time(a year and a half). My son has managed to download the latest map of Western and Central Europe onto the 910. There are now two maps of Western and Central Europe on the 910 harddrive, can anyone tell me how I will know which map is being used by the 910? Should I have deleted the map first which is already on the 910 before downloading the new one? If this is ths case he will have to do the whole process again. I am 79 and cannot understand the finer points for updating. My Tom Tom is original and is saying Version 7.903. any help in plain English would be very much appreciated.

What are the names of both map folders & what map version numbers ?
Should only have one map folder & it should be named
Western_and_Central_Europe or
Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB
The latest maps that you can use with v7.9** navcore are v835.2420 or v835.2421
Have a look at this thread - as you need to patch your navcore & then activate the map - use Albert's activation tool for both tasks.

Hello Russell

Sorry for delay, had to wait for son to come today. Folders are UK and ROL 835.2420.Zip
Western and Central Europe 835.2421
Managed to do back up, then made connection to device . Used Alberts Activation tool but cannot get device to accept transfer? There is no extra map been added to device and tempers are getting frayed. My son cannot understand why he cannot get the maps to be transferred to the device? I know it can be frustrating but there must be a simple reason that he has overlooked. If one has downloaded maps to computer and established connection to devices hardrive, it should then only require activating to get maps installed and working? forgive me if I sound a bit thick.

The map folders have wrong names - check inside the folder & you'll probably see another folder - keep opening folders until no more folders - then copy the last folder to the Tomtom.
They should be named :-
Western_and_Central_Europe
&
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland
Should be able to connect Tomtom to PC & should be seen as an extra drive - then remove old map folders & add new map folders.
You Tomtom must be patched & then the map must be activated.
As I said in my last reply - have a read of the guide I posted.

Hello Russell

My thanks for your efforts to attemt to get two maps added to my TT910. Unfortunately we have reached an impass, and I do not know how to "Patch" my TT in order to finalize my efforts. Now on my own on this one so have decied to call it a day. Will keep to what is already installed and will have to hope I can obtain the monies to download direct from Tom Tom themselves.
thanks once again for your advice and help, just did not like being beat.

It's easy to patch your Tomtom with Albert's activation tool - Step 6 - patch my tomtom system file - just point it the the file named ttsystem on your tomtom.
If you have a problem with Albert's activcation tool have a try of this one -

Hi Russell

I have finally managed to update the two maps. I was using Alberts activator which did not have "Step six on". When you said go to Step six I realised I was using the wrong activator. Finally found version 57.17 and this had what I was seeking. Just followed your instructions and up they came. Thanks once again for your input, now going to get my wee dram.
