carnt get the box to boot any way around it?i have pulled the power held down the front power button and pluged cable in too try flashing it but the power just dont come on untill i let go of button and preess it again.wont boot on its own hangs as soon as it starts to boot,really done the same as i did with the 800,whats the usb recovery stick for?pc dont have serial

To get it into network/ flash mode. turn off and boot with finger held on the front down button on the box, not the power button.
It should then give you its IP address.

i congratulate anyone who went this route and im not being cynical either,, i find the techo the easiest and no stress.

You need to install libdvdcss2 I will upload the one i have.
Its in the upload section.

Yeah, we are all wondering if you actually read the whole post before posting. These things happen if you are trying to turn it on by pressing the wrong button!! Like trying to turn on your pc by pressing your mouses right button.

was my mistake i thought it was the same steps as the 800 to be able to get it to flash

Just let me add if anyone has problems to get the IP (to flash the box). After several trials at first the IP didnīt appear when switching on at the back with the front down button pressed. No way. I had to load flash via null modem and serial port. Then I found out the following:
It always happens when I first go to deep stand-by before switching the DM8000 off. However if I switch the box off (the back switch) from working mode (not deep stand-by), then I always get the IP (to load the flash via web interface) when I switch it on again.
