Hi
yet another noob who dont know what he's doing, i had to run before i could walk, and sodded up my TT 520.

first i thought i did a backup but that now does not appear to be the case.

i've just spoken to Tom Tom support and the guy has run through the reinstallation of the original map, unfortunately i seems to be the one i was trying to setup and all i keep getting is...........
" You cannot use this map on this device:
"United_ Kingdom_and_ Republic_of_Ireland_70"

the map i was trying to install was 835.2419.

cant really offer much more help:smash: dont know what i'm talking about:ack2:

can you please help dig me out of the ****:bowing-036:

Have a look at the first post here & use Albert's activation tool to patch your Tomtom & then activate the map :-

Russ
thanks for the reply but i did all that, and what has become apparent is i didn't backup the default map as i thought but the one i d/l, so ithink that's one of the reasons i cant install any map.

ive been formatting internal flash's and SD cards i've tried Alberts and now i'm on BBs tools.

i really dont know what i'm doing:respect-039: i'mt trying anything and everything.:bowing-036:

The first map in this thread is the one you want then -
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=114868
& don't forget the postcode file - also in the first post.
If you have any more problems it might be best option to start from scratch - delete everything on your Tomtom - then connect to Tomtom Home & upgrade your unit - keep upgrading until no more updates are available. Then use one of the tools to patch your Tomtom - then add map & postcode file & then activate your map.
What problems did you have with Albert's ?

If you still have problems let me know what's wrong & what you have tried to do - & also what version of navcore you've got.

Get Albert's activation tool - I've posted the link in the 2nd post in this thread, or if you have a problem with it use the other activation tool posted here -
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=112866

If you use Albert's activation tool - to patch your Tomtom go to step 6 & use it to find the file named ttsystem on your Tomtom. There is a help button with the activation tool, but everything is pretty well straight forward.

@ Russell
sorry for the late reply, but before i got your answer i was in all sorts of trouble, so i contacted TT yet again, the guy on support was really helpfull and got me to find a d/l for my default map, so all is working ok, apart from the boot screens they're missing, so i'll look round for some.

thanks for all you help, i'm going to take my time now and do a lot of reading and practising, and back up my bloody software :respect-067:

thanks & regards: canthackit

Here's some Start up, Low Battery & Anti-Theft images. The 3 files ending with 'w' are the ones for your unit - copy the ones you want to use direct to your 520 - don't put them in any folder.
