Hi,
I get the following error message when I try to play mkv files on my azbox (firmware version 0.9.3661)
[MATROSKA] UNKNOWN CODEC
I have tried to create the mkv files with both the "mkv muxer" in MeGUI and "mkvtoolmix" - the result is the same. The mkv files are based on m2v and mp2 files extracted from ts files recorded by my azbox (I have used ProjectX to extract the SD video, audio and subtitle files).
Isn't MATROSKA mkv files supported by the azbox (I have no problems when I try to play them on my PC)? Is it possible to create the mkv files with another codec?

mkv is not a codec, it's a container.
probably the MKV that you made , isn't "well made" i dunno.
i don't think mkv uses m2v and mp2 files.
use MPEG2 container instead, it should work!

he didn't say mkv didn't work!
he said a mkv he made didn't work.
so, maybe it's not well made.
try to convert TS to MPEG2
it's fast!

No, and I didn't call mkv a codec ;)
btw. I have not tried other mkv files (since I only have the onces I have created myself)
so, maybe it's not well made.

I'm not sure that I follow you. m2v files contain MPEG2 video streams and mp2 files MPEG1 audio. Both programs I have used have the option to select m2v/mp2/ac3 files ... and the mkv files work perfectly on my PC.
Is it this program you are refering to?:

I have previously used ProjectX because it can also extract the subtitles (in addition to the different audio and video streams).

I tried to download this test mkv file:
http://bluedroplet.com/video/52/test-x264-mkv-file
It gave the same error message:
[MATROSKA] UNKNOWN CODEC
Can you play this test mkv file on yourr azbox?

Wow... The issue has been solved in the newest firmware version (0.9.4829):
"fixed mkv parser with mpeg1/mpeg2"
:-)
