For some strange reason, on bbc hd (satellite) jitters horizontally every 30s but not on other hd channels. Using latest firmware on premium HD. This doesnt happen on my freesat box.Anyone else have this problem? (Using panasonic plasma ).

I have the same. Funny thing is that I am quite sure with this same firmware I have been watching a full program on BBC HD without this effect. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe this was longer ago with a previous version.

How do you "see" this jitter?

I watch BBC HD through my amp (optical audio connection) and the sound keeps dropping (very annoying and almost unlistenable) at something like 30s or so.

But I think this happens across all channels and was wondering if it was an audio-connection issue. Like maybe I needed HDMI instead.

Have you seen it happen on other channels?

no sound problems. The width 'shudders' i.e. almost horizontally narrows a little as if its going from 16:9 to 4:3 format to corrects itself.
It only happens with bbc hd and not itvhd/lux hd .

I used to get judder as mentioned here, like it was switching between 4:3 & 16:9. I had one of my settings set to auto which I then switched to 16:9 and it appears to have corrected itself.

I have never seen this happen. Could it be the TV? TVs nowadays look to interpret the signal and display the appropriate ratio. Maybe the TV is getting confused?
Can you test it on a 2nd TV?

Not sure if it is related but BBC HD is actually broadcast as 1440x1080i rather than 1920x1080i. The receiver therefore has to stretch the picture back to the wide aspect ratio. I really don't know why they don't use the full resolution. Same thing with ITV HD.

Could it be this causing the issue?

Thanks slacker17- you have pointed out the solution and it works:

go to settings---> video---> change from AUTO to 16:9 and the jittering has stopped- thanks mate.
