Hi,

Is there any simple way of connecting my Techno 6900 super to ethernet.

I have seen a lot of the threads and I cannot seem to follow, the patch I am

using at the momont is 7.01 but I am going to change to 7.02 soon.

Any HELP would be great.

Cheers in advance POPEYE05...

Is it already wired in to your home network?
IP address assigning to TM (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?p=641897) <= click here
have you already tested your network? (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?p=640296) <= click here

Hi Giga,

I have an ethernet cable that I tried to my Techno and from my Network Hub (Wi Fi).

Then I did a scan my IP addresses came up but the Mac address at the bottom was wrong and I did not know how to change, it would not connect at all.

I will have a look into your reply and see if I get any joy, if I get stuck I will post another thread to you for HELP if this is O.K.

Cheers Again POPEYE05...

Mac address is fixed on the TM, can not change that one!
if the scan on the TM did not provide you with a IP address? Take a look at your computers IP address and use that one +1 if it is not used by other device. Use same subnetmask and gateway addresses from PC. DNS use same as gateway.

if on xp computer from start (left bottom): run box
type cmd followed by enter, command prompt window should open (dos box)
type there ping and the IP address of your technomate like:
ping 192.168.1.6

Pingen naar 192.168.1.6 met 32 byte gegevens:
Antwoord van 192.168.1.6: bytes=32 tijd<1 ms TTL=64
Antwoord van 192.168.1.6: bytes=32 tijd<1 ms TTL=64
Antwoord van 192.168.1.6: bytes=32 tijd<1 ms TTL=64
Antwoord van 192.168.1.6: bytes=32 tijd<1 ms TTL=64
...
you should have a similar response but in the language of your computer
change the 192.168.1.6 to the IP address of your TM

Hi Giga,

I will be using a Macbook.

Do I have to use my computer with ethernet cable to my technomate first.

If you want to check the home network connection to the TM if the address is put in by hand. homenetwork should look something like this:

modem/router connected to
- macbook
- technomate
each having there own cable connected in the router/switch part.
testing the network with cable between Macbook and Technomate is pointless.
you have to use the equivalent of a ping command in the MacOS if you don't have windows on it! and sorry no Mac knowledge on my side.
If Technomate got the IP address assigned by the modem/router: it should be ok.

Hi Giga,

I am still having no joy, firstly I tried going into IP settings and pressed scan that came up with IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS as you said the Mac Address stays the same. Tried on that page Firmware Update kept saying no Connection.

Then went into 8281 and not sure what to do here aswell.

Then I tried to ping from a dos menu, that did not work. I manage to do that because I have put my mac in bootcamp mode and windows xp on my system.

Just one final thing, something must of happened because it said on my Mac some one had accessed my IP address, so my airport would not work.

I switched everything of just incase I would balls up my system, as I mentioned before I don't want to make any big mistakes so I mess up my computer.

Cheers Again and can you still HELP a thicko...

So when in the IP settings when you pressed the red button the Technomate found an IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS.
This would indicate it is ok on the home network.
on the 8 2 8 1 (https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=114462) (<= click here) all is explained in there, don't think I can give you more information on that issue: find some free test servers, and the main advice from most on this board: stay away from pay servers

Pressing the ● will not update your firmware as you don't have a firmware prepared to update from a computer.

Hi Giga,

I will have a look at your info, by the way, from what I mentioned earlier what I did in the IP Techno window. Is this correct, should everything else work if I understand things you have sent on your thread.

Cheers Giga for all your HELP.

if the routers firewall let the packets through? Likely there is some kind of log in the router, if it can't make the connection with recent server information? less then 24:00 hours. Have a look there and see if there is any blocked traffic.

Hi Giga,

Still no joy, I seem to be able to do everything else with my Technomate 6900 super.

But this 8281 screen and setting things up is totally beyond me, unless I am thick.

Cheers again Giga.
