View Full Version : Fixed Dish for 13, 19 & 28 in North of Scotland?

Is it possible to get good reception of 13, 19 & 28 from a fixed dish in the North of Scotland? If so, would an 80cm be sufficient, or is larger required (my existing 80 cm Lenson Heath, aligned on 13, has been fine for 13 & 19)?

What good quality (performance, build etc.) aluminium (or similarly light & weather proof) dish, with multi LNB bracket, would you recommend for this, bearing in mind the what the weather can be like in these parts?

Also, what quad LNBs would you recommend? Good performance, weatherproofing etc.; if they happened to be quite lightweight, then so much the better.

TIA.

some good ideas with pictures in this sticky thread here

https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?t=71846

but triax , gilbertini , andrews and force come to mind , the bigger the better apart from wind load , and most bigger dishes are solid not perforated

the other option is fit a zone 2 dish and use a diseqc switch to swotch between the lenson heath lnb,s and the zone 2 on 28e

any quad lnb,s should be fine

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that, although my existing dish is in good condition, the feedarm is corroding quite badly, so will need to be replaced, sooner or later.

Due to where it will be sited, I would like to keep things as small as possible, to minimise wind loading.

I’ve only seen pictures, so it’s difficult to tell, but is the Gibertini strong enough for the job (feed arm & LNB bracket in particular)?

TIA.

If you are on/below the line Ullapool - Tain you would receive the 28°E with a 55 cm. Adding a extra LNB holder when the center LNB is at 19.2°E would be sufficient.

Yes, below that line...just :)

the force would do the job afaik , or the 80cm triax with 4 lnb holder

I have no idea about the gilbertini , and have never used a force either , but they should work ok as well
