View Full Version : Its dead, what does the 30 volt line do
Hello
It has been in daily use for 10 years, no troubles at all. But now smells of TCP and does nothing at all.R21 I think, is fried, thats on the 30 volt line. Before I start to replace it what else does the 30 volt line do so that I can check first.
Just a thought, the weather has been very windy and wet, could a short on the lnb have taken this out. Also what other damage is likely.
Using my old Manhattan at the moment just to show how good the humax is.
Any help appreciated, the circuit was a goo start.

I could not tell the functionality of thd 30V line, but you probably already know the Humax PSU is a known weakness and after more than a decade of use mine blew recently. If you can use a soldering iron then it will only cost a couple of quid in components from ****** to upgrade the PSU and fix it.
Ive repaired the psu already KingPrawn and there is no change, its still dead. The voltages the psu gives out seem ok too. You are right it wasnt difficult to repair either.
Do you know if its possible to get sat receivers repaired.
Thanks for answer

You can get reconditioned power supplies from the bay, you have to send your dead one in exchange, I seem to remember when I repaired mine a few years ago that there is a 30v zener diode that has to be replaced along with a pile of electrolytic capacitors and a resistor, the caps dry out over time - about 10 years seems right.

All the best Dean.
I changed the 30 volt zener and its resistor but havent replaced any capacitors yet as the voltages on each line seem about right but still get nothing on the front of the Humax.
Not sure about replacement power supply in case the main board is dead.
Thanks

You must replace all the components in the list above
Do you know of any supplier for the complete kit of parts. Would be much easier to get a kit.
Thanks
