re: sat channels

just flashed my 500s with pli image
scanned on 28.2 e seem to only get a few sky channels.
all i want to do is test my card out on this db500 and see the full sky package.
any ideas what im doing wrong?

Go into the manual transponder scan menu and see if all the Tx's are listed. Check them against KoS or Lyng5at.

Can't be more precise because I don't use pli.

Could be lots of reasons....

Dish not aligned.
LNB not aligned
LNB Faulty
Transponders missing from list.

Did you try a NIT search?

update:
i used the channel list function that comes with the pli image and download full sky list.
put my card in and i can watch bravo 2 but no other sky chan.
sky channels are showing in the menu
are the frequencies wrong? maybe.

this is getting ridiculous. i reset to factory default.
ftp'ed satalite.xml to /var/etc this will override any other in a pli image.
made sure i looked at lyngsat. sky news is 12207 V
as a test a i wanted was sky news.
so i add to sat xml
<transponder frequency="12207000" symbol_rate="27500000" polarization="1" fec_inner="2"/>.

reboot and transponder scan.
guess what no sky news chan.
what am i doing wrong?
i did get some other 250 channels

ok just did another scan with dload'ed chan list.
same ****. i can view bravo 2. all other sky chans --> no data for this service
someone must know what is up
im about to totally give up with this

are you sure you have selected the right sat in set up menu?

it is possible you may be selecting astra on 19e some of the transponders match 28e

when i scanned i thought it used all transponders. its on 24 transponders scanned

this really is starting to take up a lot of my time. i had same problem with gemini. that is why i change to pli.
funny thing is if i use remote to dload chan list i get all sky chans but most if not nearly all dont work.
wtf is going on. took me 1 week to buy 500s and learn how to do everything and the one thing that will stop me CS is the chan list

no but it was when i dloaded the chan list. would it need to be online just to get channel list

ie: input card and watch full package.

This may have been suggested, but get another satellite receiver, even a sky receiver and check if the same channels dont work on there. If they dont you aint got a properly alligned dish, lnb...as post 2.

try this,

menu, 6, software managment, download latest menu, downloads, channel settings, dreambox fun for all, astras/hotbird,

download that, it should replace all astra transponders and channels

ok this is a bit of a strange set up but here goes an explantion.
i have no dish. i have long cable from next door going through my window to my 500s. we then borrow a card from someone to test. when its all good we then intend to subscribe and CS with family/friends.
so everything we are doing is to test out CS.
earlier we grabed his old sky box put it in my house when we fired it up. says no satalite detected.
could this suggest your suggestion is correct?
if so how come i still get like 400 chans when i use the bd. so weird

bravo 2 is free to air,

Ok if you are running a long cable then you may be losing signal strength on some transponders.

Try using an orthodox way first with a shorter cable run and also try out another box.

Only after this can you say there is a problem with the dreambox as most of the time when a few channels are missing its never the boxs' fault.

Which is why he has got to try his original sky box first in order to establish he can actually receive these channels.

Then he has got to say if it is only fta channels he can see or some encrypted ones.

Also a quick run down on what cam he is using would be nice.

if so, its still the full sky package that i want. the card has full package so i need chan list to test. then i set up CS.

noff it could be to long. idk. its verly long. im sure i could take of at least 15 feet maybe bit less off the length. i havnt got another box at mo to test on. once i see the card working with full list. then i buy some more dreams and start with the CS testing. at present im stuck on this chan list. i am doing all this in stages and only ever herd of CS like 2 weeks ago. as you know N3 is out soon. so just trying to stay ahead of the game. cable scene is dying

the easiest way would be to take the dm500 to where the sky box was working,
you still need to have a cam running to read the card, i would suggest cccam 2.13

i tried newcam but couldnt even get bravo 2 to work but does on ccam 2.1.1.
i can upgrade that i think to ccam 2.1.3 not sure. i think i did have it on that before i did a factory reset

if its a new white card it will need cccam 2.13 (afaik)

If you have the card why do you not have the box?

Mate you are trying to fly b4 you can crawl.

You have to try another receiver, ideally the original sky box to see if you can actually see those channels. It could just be then lnb is fooked.

If the channels are viewable on sky box.....

then check you have the correct cam installed on your dreambox.


If it still doesnt work do the following....


which channel list are you using? Grab one from the dreambox section of this board, and then upload it using dreambox edit.

If that still dont work get a pro in.

ok its a white card and maybe i did use 2.13 and bravo 2 did work.

ok last update. if no joy gonna give up.
borrowed someones sky box brought it here, couldnt even detect the sat dish.
back to the db 500s
i reset to factory. then used dream box edit. received files from 500s. there were errors in the bouquets. saved to .wine dir. removed them then added sky uk boquets. sent these files to the dream. received them again to see if any errors.
there was none.
reloaded setting on dream. i then see all the chans. if i go to providers i see bsky. if i view say bbc1 and view info. SNR is like 79 AGC is 93.
if i view brav0 2. i get epg and SNR is 78 AGC is 92. if i view sky news. no epg
SNR below 70 its 63 AGC bout 89.

other than that i got no idea what to do next.
any advice would be appreciated
